i'd offer for the record
senator grassley's statement
and, mr. holder, i've been
disappointed having responding
about the uyghurs, he said he
has three letters that's gone
unanswered by the department
and he has serious concerns
about that.
i'm sure you'll want to address
that.
mr. chairman, i will just
briefly note with regard to the
hate crimes legislation that i
would suggest we should have a
hearing on that.
it's a matter that's worthy of
attention and i would note --
offer for the record a june 16,
2009, letter from the united
states civil commission on
civil rights.
i believe six of the eight
members signed it and they say
-- they write to us and the
president and vice president
urging that we vote against the
hate crimes prevention act.
they think it will do, "little
good and great harm."
