it is really not an occasion on
which we tried to persuade one
another.
very few minds are changed at
conference.
each justice states his or her
view of the case and how he or
she boats.
-- how he/she votes.
if in the middle of a
presentation you disagree with
something they say, the chief
justice would say you can have
your turn at speaking.
at the end, you can speak as
second time and raise some of
these questions, but it is not
really an exercise in persuading
each other.
