regulation of a dangerous
industry, they want us to undo
the reforms that have been
made.
for what?
the energy department's energy
information administration
estimates that drilling
authorized by these bills may
lead to a measly 1.6% increase
in domestic energy production
from 2012 to 2030.
that is not a prescription for
relieving pain at the pump.
in the short-term and it's a
poor strategy for long-term
energy security.
instead we need to invest in
fuel efficient technologies and
expand our transportation
options.
we need to focus on harnessing
clean, alternative energy
sources.
and that way we can leave our
children a cleaner, healthier
planet.
wean ourselves from foreign
oil.
i urge my colleagues to vote
against this rule and against
this drill only bill.
