black folk can govern.
just like the sister in georgia,
we can take mississippi back.
please, gentrification from your
perspective.
>> my name is ellen lee.
i'm here on behalf of mayor
latoya cantrell of new orleans,
the first female mayor of the
great city of new orleans.
she is amazing.
she is a community organizer.
.hat is her roots
the work she did in her
neighborhood after katrina,
organizing that community,
fighting for resources to bring
that neighborhood back.
it was one of the neighborhoods
those planners said would not be
able to rebuild, you are too
low, too much water.
if said, i will be doggone
that is going to happen.
not today.
and she organized so that that
neighborhood would come back,
that the people of new orleans
would be able to come back and
live where they choose to live,
and not where someone else tells
them to live.
