chevron natural gas line was passing. out of abundance of caution and concern about the possibility o ensuing fire, we evacuated within a half mile of the incident site. >> okay. and mr. hill, obviously an explosion is worst-case scenario. obviously no one wants that to happen. what is being done at the scene to minimize that danger. >> well, we are making progress hour by hour. chevron has been working to essurize that 12-inch line. and they're making good progress. the next step will be for them, and they will start this pretty soon here, will be to purge the line with an inert gas to make it completely safe. again, we're being cautious and making sure we don't put anyone's life at risk in any way. so we're following that purging process. as soon as that's complete, we will make decisions out of the evacuation order. >> this is an unnerving situation of people in their
