meeting this morning.
kris sanchez joins us live from
south san jose with what
regulators are saying about the
concerns of a possible terrorism
element at this substation.
>> reporter: well, let's start
by saying the metcalf substation
here in south san jose is better
protected than last april when
someone took a rifle and shot
out 10 of the 12 transformers,
the cpuc and public will hear
what the utility knows about the
incident that took out power as
well as cell and landline
service including 911 system for
the county.
back in april of last year,
theories went from vandalism to
terrorism against a vulnerable
infrastructure.
the fbi did not classify the
attack as terrorism but in
february of this year a former
federal energy chief told the
"wall street journal" he
considered it the most
significant indent of terrorism
involving the power grid.
we did meet one of the security
guards already this morning.
