head coach steve kerr and star forward kevin durant are a few of the people here to represent the warriors organization. san francisco mayor ed lee is also here. the 18 ,000-seat arena will be part of an 11-acre area that will be home to restaurants, cafes, offices and public plazas and it will be near b.a.r.t. and muni stops. the big question that remains is what will happen to oracle. east bay taxpayers may be responsible for tens of millions of dollars to keep oracle possible. there's talk about a potential wnba team moving in. the lease of the arena ends this year. the warriors are privately funding this entire project of the arena and it's not something that will affect san francisco's general fund. it won't affect san francisco's taxpayers. this is a vision we talked about and introduced to the public in may 2012. here we are four and a half years later breaking ground on a project that is expected to only take two and a half years.
