and the one thing he had at the
same time and didn't see it was
networked computers.
when he started to build next,
he started to recognize that and
realize that any knew that's
where things were going.
i think the combination of open
step and that the internet was
starting to have a surge enabled
him to turn it on.

where did this interest in
technology come from?
>> i was a biochemical
engineering major in college.
and in 1997, i went to the
university iowa school of
engineering, and learned how to
program in fortran, which is a
very antiquated code at the
time.
and i sort of-- i appreciated
it, and i'd sort of understand
the mechanics of engineering,
