so this is -- this will be a great exhibit and very popular. >> interesting. and what is this one here? >> this particular flag is probably our most popular and there's a wonderful story behind this flag. in 1905, the united states government began to return flags captured in battle to southern states. this was kind of a goodwill gesture, in other words. and so as you can imagine, there were no computer databases to keep up with these flags so a lot of flags were miss-i.d. d. they were given a war department number as you see up here. this one is 227. but they were mis-i.d.'d. this was an arkansas flag, eight units were under it, but it was sent to alabama. so since 1905 it stayed in the archives at alabama archives and history museum. curator bob bradley contacted me in 2000 and said i think we have finally i.d.'d through scholarly research this flag, and it belongs in arkansas. so they went before their board, showed all the work that they had done, the scholarly research, and very generously they decided to donate the flag to us. so in october of 2001, i wen

it was a great event. i attended with my son. although our team lost, it was really the epitome of community policing. it is nice to see the uniformed officers interacting at what is essentially a major bar-b-q. congratulations to the staff for a great event. also, later that night, there was a dinner, and it ended at a lions club which honors the firefighters and others of the year. 12 officers or honored at that event. on tuesday april 10, the cheese held a community event to update the public on the homicides, just to make sure the community was getting accurate information. we put a lot of information as we could as quickly as we could after the homicides, and thankfully, we were able to make an arrest within 48 hours, but just in case there were fears in the community, we had tamil meetings, we would do after an officer-involved shooting. later that night, there was the commemorative meeting for officer espinosa at the bayview station. on thursday, april 12, the chief and his staff attended human rights commission hearing on

it was a great triumph. roosevelt, on the other hand, in 1921 was paralyzed from the waist down with polio. what would seem to be a very promising career, there was talk in 1920 that roosevelt would be the democratic nominee for president. 1924 or 1928. but he was paralyzed, and it looked like his career was over. so you have chief justice hughes going up and roosevelt going down. but it was the abominable spirit. fdr began to think of a political career again. he was asked to attend the democratic national convention in 1924. he had braces all the way up and down his legs. he went to the podium on the arm of his 16-year-old son, james, and, of course, tried to make it look effortless. it wasn't. as he made his way to the podium, he gave a great speech talking about the happy warrior taken from a henry wordsworth poem, and the crowd erupted. they were deliriously happy, and they were clapping not just for al smith, but certainly for franklin roosevelt as well. four years later, roosevelt was elected governor

i was a great supporter. this type os developing a passion for society and about what is going on in the world and digging deeper and working as a team, and i also appreciate team's zeroth year ago -- team spirit. i have seen members on her team quiet and shy turn into a really robust speakers, being very articulate. my daughter went to berkeley. she is a labor organizer, and she has a lot to say, and she has perfected the art of argument, and it is hard to win any argument with her. i applaud commissioner winds for being forced to question how we can do this. i took lassoes in creative writing. those are things that -- i took classes in creative writing. those are things that are not just an electoive, but i think we can use funds to support what is in the classroom. this is a great place to support our students who are taking the bait, and thank you to all the teachers who came out. there you go. thanks a lot. >> i have the privilege of watching you debate. i really think standing your ground and having not
