in conshohocken, aaron baskerville. >> that's the good news right there.lert chief meteorologist tammie souza joins us with what happened. >> it's unusual for this area. let's look at the facts. this was a shallow earthquake, three to four files deep which is why you could feel it at a greater distance. 175 miles out from the center is what people were feel. beyond that, not too much. it was a 4.1, and that is the strongest earthquake in delaware centered in delaware since 1871. only 58 earthquakes in delaware in the last 146 years. this 4.1 may be a record setter because back in 1871, they weren't quite sure, is it a 4.1, 3.8, that's a guesstimate. this was the strongest quake in the continental united states today which is remarkable when you consider all the western states, alaska surpassed us just a few hours ago with a 4.2 magnitude quake. definitely a very unusual event. something else we'll be watching along with the follow-up on this quake that took place is the rain moving through the area. dover getting a little bit of rain action through their a

for now aaron baskerville, nbc 10 news. >>> switching gears here, the holiday weekend is almost here. and for a lot of people that means it's time to gas up the car and hit the road. but will the weather cooperate with your holiday travels? >> tomorrow, everything is going to be okay for the travel. after that things start changing. one of the places you may actually see a white christmas out of this, eastern pa up in the lee high valley. still kind of questionable in the philadelphia area. could see a few flakes by christmas morning. right now certainly cold enough to snow. 33 in philadelphia, 29 in dover, 26 in vineland and 27 in mount holly. we have a lot warmer air back to the west, in the 40s now in the ohio valley. and we have 65 degrees in dallas. but it's also bitter cold up in the northern plains. some of that air is coming this way, too. eventually. not tomorrow. it's going to be milder getting up into the 50s despite all the clouds that are going to be around. it should be dry during the daytime hours. but some showers coming in tomorrow night setting us up for wet and mild

nbc 10's aaron baskerville talked to the victim about the frightening encounter. >> why are they attackings people? we're homeless. what are you going to get from me. >> he's recovering from a broken sneeze and bumps and bruises. the 60-year-old was outside wednesday night talking to a few others in the common area at the homeless shelter at the salvation army. that's when he claims for no reason a group of teens, boys and girls, went on the attack. >> they didn't take nothing from me, just hit me. you know, i guess, for kicks. >> chester police tell us they believe five to six teenagers were involved in this attack wednesday night around 7:30. we're told they walked right up to him at the shelter on 15th street and started fighting. mark french was outside at the time and claims he was also beat up. >> they claimed up on top of the table and started hitting us. bob ended up with a broken nose. i have a couple lumps on my ahead and a pair of broken glasses. >> the salvation army workers say it's the second attack. a man and woman were attacked around a corner by a large group of teens near
