good morning, everyone, i'm aaron gilchrist outside the navy yard. there were so many acts of heroism here one year ago today. there were police officers who rushed into the navy yard not knowing exactly what they were going to find when they got there. the u.s. park police heard the call and one of them jumped in his car to meet up with jennifer bennett who was shot here on the grounds. we'll hear from officer matt cooney in his own words. >> we weren't sure where we were going. we came down and saw mtv officials directing officers where to go. so people were taking cover near building 197. and he directed us to an officer that was by himself and said, the three of you, you are on our team and go. there's the door. as we were on the first floor in the atrium area, we could hear that he was up on the third floor, so we were brought that way. i found myself with a team on the roof, because we thought alexis was up there at the time. and checked the roof, he's not there, thank goodness, but there we have four civilians, including miss bennett. and i ca
