the wind has abated slightly.are over the worst of it here in south kerry and the storm is moving northwards. as i say, there are now significant amounts of rain falling. will it cause problems later on? the tide is coming in here. the breeze, the wind is due to veer around first of all southerly and then south—westerly, and that will drive the tide onshore and that has caused problems here in the past in bays like dingle bay, communities around here, and here in ross bay. and there have been flooding problems there. we can expect something like that in a localised fashion again. the other problem being caused here is by the wind. it has brought down significant amounts of trees as well as blocking roads and causing difficulties for people who are continuing to commute, notwithstanding the conditions. those falling trees have brought down dozens and dozens of power cables and thousands of homes are consequently without electricity this lunchtime. our ireland correspondent chris buckler is in galway. the bit of the
