this reminds me of the aberdeen drill sergeant trial. i don't finish you remember that. you had 12 drill sargents in charge of training units that were heavily -- a lot of women in the units. they used their command and influence to force the women to have sex with them. it was awful. delmar simpson was really brought up on the most charges. and this was in the 90s. this was 1997. and i actually covered that for a news organization i was working for at the time. i got to sit in on the trials and as a young woman, i was shocked that like the congresswoman said, they had no recourse. they could go to him -- they couldn't even go to his boss and get out of the unit. so, it's really troubling. i think that we are making a step in the right direction. but women should not have to go to the latrine in combat in iraq and after began stan like we know armed with a knife. -- afghanistan. >> for me it comes down statistics and the fact that it's estimated 30% of women experience a rape during their military service. about, i believe it's 70% experience some form of sexual assault.
