adam williams in with the latest. >> reporter: one person died, 108 others injured. the train was traveling at a high speed, came any the hoboken station. witnesses say it never slowed down. the train went airborne, thrgh hoboken by the way, one of the busiest transit hubs in the new york city metro area a lot of people were on the mom when this happened t person killed, a woman, was on the platform and was struck by debris. workers nearby rushed to the station to help people until first responders arrived and witnesses described the chaotic scene. >> the people in front of me were badly injured, then we heard people screaming in the first car. they were trapped. they couldn't get out. there, the ceiling is kind of collapsed on top of a portion of the train. you can imagine, wiring and there is water pipes and things just -- just stuff everywhere. >> anchor: there is serious damage to the station terminal, part of the roof is collapsed. the ntsb is investigating what caused the crash, which that investigation should take some time. officials say the train's engineer

live in the newsroom i'm adam williams, 7 news. police arresting a man in east boston after they say he used a 9-inch knife to threaten parents of students outside of an elementary school. jonathan hall has more. >> reporter: jadiann, police report shows the guy lives on the very same street as the elementary school and waves this big knife at a 4-year-old boy nearly striking him. luckily the child was not hurt. nobody was hurt. in fact expect for the suspect himself. was bleeding after falling earlier on a broken beer bottle. boston police say a 36-year-old man carrying this 9-inch kitchen knife posed a danger to parents and young kids at a school in east boston last week. >> that is really scary. i mean number one priority for sure is to make sure the kids are safe. but that is really crazy to hear. >> reporter: as word spread today concerned parents stopped by otis elementary to find out more. are you going to take the secretary. i don't want them to loss school. the police did a good job. >> reporter: not only was this guy arme
