blowing into maine up to 70 miles per hour and gusts and snow starting to fall in parts of the adirondackd white and green mountains and above the 3500 foot level they could have half a foot of snow. for us we are partly cloudy tonight and then these lake effect clouds begin to develop. now our modzle goes to 7:00 tomorrow and then the potential for these to swing far enough west to swipe northeast illinois and certainly northwest indiana from time to time. it's standard lake effect stuff so you have the sun one moment and little sprinkle or shower another. then here is the beginning of the storm out east. look at this clouds three or more inches of rain in parts of new england. so we can be a lot worse off. we also have tropical storm paula riding across cuba and blasting the florida keys with some squally rains right now. we will show you that on the update later. paula in a decreasing mode at this point becoming less organized as it's sure to part there but it could be a blustery day in south florida. blustery afternoon. increased cloudiness here in chicago. more seasonal temperatures

we think for the most part it'll be at the higher elevation of the adirondacks.hampshire and vermont. typically over about 2,000 feet with this type of set-up and time of year. although snowing at the top of monta mt. washington, that's about 6,000 feet. the winds, a stormy, nasty day. although logan handles weather pretty well. just the wind could make for delays, philly and d.c., as well, and atlanta and charlotte, wind delays, as well. and los angeles and san francisco, heading out there, low clouds. 85 in dallas, still warm across the midsection, 72 in kansas city, and 76 degrees in atlanta. there is cooler air behind this, by the way. still tropical depression paula. this thing's pretty much falling apart. that's the good news. missed south florida. extreme south florida heading towards the bahamas. we think this will dissipate over the next 48 hours. good news there. john, kiran, hold on to your hats for the next 12 to 24 hours. it'll be a breezy friday night. >> we will. and good thing they dodged another bullet down there. hurricane season's proving to be

seeing this morning is certainly heavy from atlantic city right up through upstate new york and the adirondacks. so we're looking for heavy rainfall, street flooding, across heavily trafficked streets here, and airport delays, as well. there have been a couple of inches of rain fallen in new york so far. the reds for upstate new york and northern parts of pennsylvania including scranton, that's just up for the next couple of hours. and once the heaviest amount of rain begins to push to the east, we won't have as much of o a problem. an additional 3 on top of what we've seen is going to be the call here. and we've seen in some cases 2 to 3 inches of rainfall. here's the forecast track for rainfall, the brighter whites and obviously the pinks, where we expect to see the heaviest amounts of rain. this is just for the last 2 1/2 days. the storm total for this event, 17 inches, silver lake. if you encompass the last four days, you've got over 22 inches of rain that fell in wilmington. these are all-time records that broken for this area. they got pounded and pounded and pounded continually with this
