across the northeast are using an army of snowplows and salt trucks to keep the roads clear and adrienne bankerts in waterbury, connecticut, with more. good morning to you, adrienne. >> reporter: good morning to you, michael. yes, plows just like this one are out in force here in connecticut. we're here with ruben, a private plow driver. really plows are going to be the only vehicles that people see out here on the roads today because of a statewide travel ban. so if it's not in the central service like first responders, nurses, people are being asked to stay home. in fact, no trains, no buses and all state roads will be closed until further notice. the connecticut department of transportation is telling us that they are deploying over 600 plows. they have 250 contracted plows as well as some big snowblowers and tractors trying to keep that snow off the road. this mammoth response is costing about $95,000 per hour. so for a 12-hour shift that's over a million dollars. they're going to be covering over 46,000 miles of both state highways and in-town roadways trying to keep everybody safe. michael
