aetna is a ton of people. cvs already has all the people coming in and this will just add to it and let's just hope competition breeds lower prices as we move forward, but leave no doubt that health care is big a blob that has to be worked out over time. liz: and like the blob it's bigger and bigger and moving towards us. rachel, what would it mean to a consumer who is upset about paying such high pharmaceutical prices. i know it's hard to anticipate, but what do you expect? >> well, i think exactly what he just said. i think that we may see prices come down as there's no competition. what i find interesting is as we see millions of aetna subscribers or members going into cvs or pushed into cvs, does cvs move more into health care and providing services that you once had to go to the hospital to get? i have eight kids, i hate going to the hospital. the idea that i can do these things or at least some of these things more easily at my local corner drug store. i like that idea. liz: and getting the flu shot was

you have to see cvs, aetna, a big insurance company melding with a retail operation. see what kind of synergies there are. that's a really vertical integration. amazon hasn't shown much interest in insurance, per se, or financial -- it hasn't yet shown any signs of wanting to be a financial services consumer. but who knows. maybe one of these days it will be a bank, and you know, why not. online banking so i don't want to say never, but i think amazon is a threat on the retail level, but that this insurance angle is a clever way of side stepping the direct competition. >> pittsburgh has falling water and the warhol museum to add to the attractiveness of pittsburgh >> i can't say i have been to any one of these cities, but i have been to the six finalists, pittsburgh, i think has been underestimated it has a very attractive urban core, a very vibrant sense of reinvection. a lot is happening there >> big sports teams. >> it's got the sports team. pittsburgh has a lot going for it >> i think we had rendell back on a while back talking about the impact of carnegie mellon,

so it's not the same corollary other than aetna. aetna is beinghy mentioned.ed in 2015 as a target by united health, and that did not come to fruition because aetna tried to turn around and purchase humana. abigail: to what extent do you think the political landscape has influenced this potential deal? jason: i think it has had some impact, at least on the benefit andger side, with cvs walgreens, there's been more in the spotlight on drugs and drug pricing. you're seeing a little bit of a slowdown on that front. ,here might be pressure there but there is also a lot of cash on the sidelines. companies are trying to figure out what to do with that. that might be part of what is driving this as well. terms of regulatory approval, how likely is a deal like this to be approved? aetna-humana deal ended up falling apart as well. jason: this is a little different, is not a horizontal integration. the one issue that could complicate it is just that anthe m eventually will offer their own drug plans. to industry itself is moving this more integrated with health plans an

that sent shares of aetna much higher. cvs shares finished the day lower but this stock and other drugstores and pharmacy benefit managers' stocks were pressured by reports that amazon obtained its pharmacy license in a number of sets. meg terrell joins us onset to talk about it. where do we start with this story? >> let's start with this report from "the wall street journal." this would be a gigantic deal, $200 a share. we'll note aetna's stock didn't trade up that high. it implies the market might not relieve this yet. that would be a 25% premium to where the stock was trading. thinking about what this means for cvs, they already are both a pharmacy benefits manager, so managing drug benefits for employers and insurers, and they're a retail pharmacy, of course. this would make them yet another thing, giving them more power to potentially offer to employers when trying to do services with them. we've seen this with unitedhealth, which also has a pbm in-house. these companies are getting bigger and bigger, trying to get mo
