. >> ain the end they call come back to the center anyway. >> the thing that is horrible about this ise the minority population has increased and yet their congressional power has decreased because of redistricting. >> it is worse this cycle than in past cycles. almost all of the new voters were gained by hispanic and african americans but when they gained four new seats in congress, three of them wept to white republicans and now you have a situation where texas is diverse, it's a majority/minority state but there's been an effort to surpress the minority vote so white republicans main the majority in texas and hispanic democrats and african american democrats are disinfranchised, this is happening across the south. the south is getting increasingly diverse but the districts are being drawn in a way that white republicans are holding on and strengthening their majorities in there were states. it's creating a system where a number of minority lawmakers told me, that there are echos of segregation here. they believe the south is resegregating and that is what is disturbing this cycle. >

dynamic between romney and ron paul that said so far this campaign cycle, the two candidates have had an ainwith neither of them ever really threatening the other. can ron paul help willard out in these last few days? is that part of the calculus here? >> i don't know that it's part of the calculus? when you talk to the two campaigns, they'll tell you they have a very good personal relationship. they actually like each other, which is one of the reasons they haven't been going at each other and there's been a little bit of a back and forth. ron paul went after him in iowa a little bit. not to the xents. but i don't think ron paul is getting out of this race any time soon. i don't think he's going to throw his support to romney quite yet. i think he's going to stick around. he has no reason to get out. >> we'll see this high stakes tonight. jamal simmons and jackie kucinich. it's a tense night for them. i remember 2004, another kucinich, dennis kucinich and i went through a tense night. but not this tense because neither one of us was worried about winning. thank you for your time tonight. >>
