much colder air mass will move in tomorrow. the wind picks up, keeps a chill in the air, and looks like finally winter will return as the rain returns. here's a look at the high clouds moving north. we have some moving to the south as well. so we'll keep them in our overnight forecast. temperature-wise, 29 for santa rosa. cold in the north bay, near freezing. napa, 32, and 47 for san francisco. high pressure has been bringing us just a very dry, really two months. things are going to shift a bit tomorrow. signs of shifting. high pressure will push on towards the south and that will allow the first in a series of weak systems to move across the bay area. tomorrow's system will be a colder air mass, windy conditions behind the system as well. so look for temperatures to drop as much as 15 degrees from where you were today, tomorrow. you're really going to feel the dropoff. here's a look at the highs for tomorrow. a dry system so no rain in the forecast for sunday. 55 for san rafael. 56 for santa rosa tomorrow. get ready for gusti

and we have a cold air mass that moved in over the weekend. so, that cold air mass is going to keep things very chilly at least until about noon. grab your heavy coat. 42 degrees in san francisco now. you're at 38 in san jose. by noon today, holding on to the 40s, just about everywhere. fairfield up to about 50 degrees at noon. then we round out the day in the upper 50s, some cities only making it into the mid-50s at the coast. 55 in san francisco, 53 later in santa rosa and 54 in los gatos so we need the rain. we've been talking about how badly we need it. the deficit this month and last month. look at the dip in the jet stream. finally we've been talking how the jet stream is taking the storm track into alaska. things are changing. you can see they are getting activity in the northern most portion of the state that's going to continue to ramp up as we head throughout the midsection of the week. the rain arrives for us wednesday into thursday. on and off showers thursday, friday, the bulk of the moisture comes through, then saturday and sunda

it had to bust through some dry air mass. the last time we had rain was 34 days ago. so it had to have a lot of muscle power there. we will continue to see some rain and breezy conditions and also when it's not raining we'll see some fog developing because this is a warm frontal system over riding the cooler air mass. second storm system arrives by tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours. the third system by sunday evening. look at the fetch of moisture all the way back to the hawaiian islands. this system is pretty much out of here but a lot of unstable air mass behind it so we keep the rain in the forecast. this is storm 2 that will interfere with your evening commute tomorrow. by 10:00 tomorrow morning about .2" in san jose, with .25" in -- about .25" in san francisco tomorrow. an inch by tomorrow night. saturday night nearly 3 inches of rain to the north, a hefty total in san francisco even san jose with over 1.5" of rain. tomorrow 50 to 60 degrees. the extended forecast calls for rain by the tail end of the 49ers game. but be prepared just in case it speeds up.
