an update now on the case of a woman whose remains were found on the alameda shoreline. her fiance, 54 year old joseph roberts, appeared in court today, but did not enter a plea to a murder charge. alameda police say the body of 27 year old rachel buckner was found in the water near the park street bridge on july 20th. she was wrapped in tape and her head hands and feet were all missing . authorities say they believe roberts killed buckner in their pleasanton apartment before dumping her remains in alameda. alameda police chief says investigators had very little to go on when the body was first discovered. we started this case with nothing and through round the clock work, through the use of technology, e.g. through the use of forensic evidence, we were able to identify the victim and through further investigate , we were able to identify the suspect. roberts is being held right now without bail. buckner, a howard university graduate, had finished her first year at golden gate university school of law. her family tells ktvu her death has left a void that is indescribable

henry julie, alameda county sheriff's deputies had actually been on scene for about 15 minutes before a single gunshot rang out. the victim was a woman allegedly a victim of domestic violence. skyfox was overhead at 166th avenue and foothill boulevard, where alameda county sheriff's deputies responded to reports of domestic violence involving a man attacking a woman. deputies responded to the home at about 930 wednesday morning. they confirmed the man and the woman were still inside. deputies formulated a plan to get inside the home and blocked off streets . dispatchers tried to contact both people inside over the phone, but at about 945, 15 minutes after deputies first arrived, they heard a single shot inside. so as they were preparing to make entry, they heard a gunshot and the door opens and male in his early 50s comes out and surrenders. they found a woman dead from a gunshot wound to her head. investigators say this was a homicide that was related to domestic violence. an isolated incident with no threat to the public to hear like somebody used the weapon or that's the first time
