and supported participants in the coordinating council for reentry in alameda county. i would say it is an unlikely ally, and i'm sure that we are lucky in his leadership and support. but i do think it is because they are starting to see the connection between services and opportunities for people after incarceration. and the outcomes, which are positive. in the same vein, my office, we have funding to provide legal services for people with criminal records. unfortunately, the san francisco public defender is unique in this state. there are a few other models, but it is unfortunately not in every county, but there is a clean slate project, and that is not a foregone conclusion. the other thing is i and my bad attitude, i probably lost over the good laws that do exist. one challenge where i hope we see a lot of movement is dismantling the structural barriers people have and space from accessing what laws do exist, so that would be another one. from the very least, providing these legal services around the state. also, just a simple "know your rights" campaign. there are

what we are learning is that after 11:47 last night alameda county deputies were patrolling castro valley when they pulled over the driver of a 1994 honda civic that they matched a stolen car description. that car was stolen last friday. the driver threw the car into reverse when stopped, slammed into the officer's car and took off. the police chase ensued through the city of castro valley into

one couple, kristen perry and her spouse went to the alameda county marriage licensing office and a malee went to the los angeles county office and they were both denied. so they argue that is an injury, a legal injury caused by proposition 8. >> i'm sorry. when i said plaintiffs, i meant the proposition 8 supporters who are arguing this appeal, how do they prove they've been harmed by this? >> what they would say is they were interveners in the original trial, parties of the case so they're bound by judge walker's decision. they would say that harms them because they were the supporters of prop 8. they believe it's good policy. they put their money and time and effort into it and they think it's good for the state. and that's the problem. because standing requires something more particular than just a strong belief that something is good policy. you have to show that you have some particularize the harm that's directed to you that you're ordered to do or not do subpoenaing by the court in order to have standing by the defendant. >> so the panel listening to arguments today and come back

san francisco, san mateo, and alameda county. we have a number of funding sources. the two single largest funding of the program is a land sales and the error grant. you can see from the overall program, the total cost is $1.58 billion to date. that is the amount of money we have been able to get committed on the project. let me go through it two major funding sources which we received a $40 million grant. that was to complete the construction of the train box, the level of the transit facility. those costs are $728 million, so by no means did the error grant go to pay for the train box, but it was a major track -- contribution to make it a part of phase one. commissioner dufty: when the $400 million was asked, did you know that it was going to go up?
