tropical storm alberto has the south carolina coast on alert.schneider in the severe weather center with more on that. bonnie? >> hi, fredricka. it is unusual to have a storm in both the atlantic and the pacific in advance of the atlantic season june 1st. here we are in late may and we have tropical storm alberto that we are tracking off the coast of the carolinas. yesterday, this looked a lot more impressive than it does right now. our satellite perspective doesn't show much in terms of convection. the storm has really weakened a bit as it's drifted over cooler waters. yesterday it was over the gulf stream. now it's over slightly cooler waters. alberto's losing its punch. with that said, we have a tropical threat with a watch posted. as you can see, right along the georgia into south carolina coast, and that will continue for much of the day today. we still run that risk of strong tropical storm force winds. this is an area that's, unfortunately, been stricken with drought. so any rain really would be beneficial. i don't think we're going to se

to the south, we're watching our new tropical storm, alberto. and that is the first named storm of the 2012 hurricane season and that is formed off of the south carolina coastal area and that does bear watching and right now, doesn't look like much is happening and is not expected to strengthen. and with all of the moisture pushing in from the atlantic, week see a slight passing shower later in the day and here around the 6:00 hour and that is looking like a few showers and northern southern maryland. monday on the other hand, starts a trend of some unedge ised days. be prepared and going into the course of the week with plenty of rainfall and some thunderstorms. this is a look of alberto off of the coast of the carolinas and expected to brush off of the coast of the cape hatteras and other than that, there is not much. can you see the projected track is going to the atlantic and become a remnant low and not expected to strengthen into a hurricane at all and high surf are expected for coastal south carolina and north carolina. in the meantime cl

alberto, which was once a tropical storm system, you can see it being channeled, so alberto is gone. other than that, we're looking at drier air trying to get. this is sparking rain ahead of it. it's a very slow moving boundary. eventually it will get in toward the end of the week. we're going to continue to see this sort of sticky condition with hit and miss showers. hit and miss showers overnight. as we go not day tomorrow looks like some clearing. as we go into the heating of the day, some showers could begin to flare up as we work through the afternoon and evening. i think we'll see a similar setup on thursday. we can't rule out chances until friday. overnight 64. mostly cloudy. tomorrow a two-degree guarantee of 78, not that much warmer, maybe two or three degrees. hit and miss showers, not an all day rain but hit and mills showers. as we look at the seven-day forecast, here's the outlook last we go into the memorial day weekend. we'll dry things out and heat things up. as we move toward sunday and monday we'll bring back the chance for a few -- a few hit and miss showers. reall
