man dead. police say he was hit by two teenagers trying to make a getaway after a shooting. ktvu's alex savidge has more. >> reporter: the force of the crash flipped this subaru station wagon on its roof. the 75-year-old man behind the wheel of the car was killed. police say he was broadsided by this red suv at the intersection of church and bancroft, next to eastmont mall. the suv was carrying two 17- year-old boys who police say were on the run suspected in a shooting just minutes earlier. officers heard gunfire around 10:00 last night near ruddsdale and 82nd avenue. >> as they responded to check the area to locate victims, they noticed the suspect vehicle fleeing from the scene at a very high rate of speed. >> a short time later, that speeding suv blew thru this intersection, slamming into a passing car and killing that interknow sent driver -- innocent driver. police say they were not chasing the suv at the time of the crash. >> the preliminary investigation that we have, officers were not in pursuit of the vehicle but keep in mind there will be, you know, a full investigation into

man in his 70s killed in oakland after being hit by an suv. it happened last night about 10:30 at the intersection of church street and bancroft. alex savage is here now. >> reporter: a sergeant told me the victim was an elderly man believed to be 75-year-old. police say he was an innocent driver. he was hit by an suv that officers believe was racing away from a shooting scene near by. this happened about 10:30 next to the east mont mall. the victim was driving a station wagon that flipped over on its roof. a red suv broadsided the car. it had two men inside that were possibly involved in a shooting. police say they opened fire on an empty suv back ed -- back on second avenue. they slammed into the car leaving the driver dead. a sergeant told me that the men were taken into custody and will facing vehicular manslaughter charges at the least. alex savage, ktvu. >>> four people detained by police after a high speed chase on interstate 80. the speeds topped 100 miles an hour. it started about 9:00 in elk grove after the chp tried to make a traffic stop. the driver kept going and hit another car before that chase ended. the driver and t

man near his home. police say violence in vallejo is on the rise. ktvu's alexavage talked to police about what happened last night and more of what's going on in vallejo. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. i just spoke with the lieutenant from the vallejo police department not long ago. he tells me definitely this teenager was targeted in this  shooting last night. but at this point investigators aren't saying exactly why they believe he was targeted. this 18-year-old shot to death inside an apartment complex that's not far from where he livers. the killing happened just after 7:00 last night at an apartment complex on the 1300 block of santa clara street. according to one report, neighbors heard more than a dozen gunshots. police will only say multiple shots were fired. police say the victim was shot in the neck and then ran to a nearby unit where he collapsed right outside of someone's doorway. the young man died there at the scene and this morning police aren't releasing his identity. but police tell me they have talked to some witnesses in that area
