alex savidge is live on the campus. what's happening now?, students protesters refusing to backdown despite the crackdown last night by uc berkeley police. let me give you a look at the scene. you can see a couple of tents in front of sprowl hall. also some people in sleeping bags. everyone is being left alone. police are simply standing by here. a much different seen that we saw last night as police moved in to dismantle the tents set up here. officers used batons to push through a group of people forming a humane chain. we talked to -- human chain. we talked to one individual. >> i got involved in the chain. they were using batons and i got thrown to the ground by police. at that point, i decided i was here for the long stay. >> reporter: police say 40 people were arrested, one was a student and one was a pro ker -- professor. this is part of the broader "occupy wall street" movement. >> we intend to camp and create a community here just like oakland. it looks like we're doing that. i mean, this was the first night. is really significant t
