ktvu alex savidge is live in san rafael right now. know they are getting ready for possible flooding. >> reporter: they are. they are gearing up for a huge downpour. here at the downtown san rafael fire station the sand is ready to go. they have sandbags available for people. if anyone has concerns for flooding near where their live. a huge amount of rain will move in later on today. the storm that hit the bay area yesterday is just a preview of what is to come. most areas picked up less than an inch of rain yesterday but the rain returns later today and continues throughout the weekend and you can expect some big numbers here. the forecast is calling for several inches of rain to fall in most areas. that is a lot rain obviously compared to yesterday's storm. there are some areas that will get more rain just in a couple days than they did during all of last year. now down in the south bay preparations are being made to avoid flooding with this storm. the santa clara valley water district is working to clear debris from waterways to ma

ktvu reporter alex savidge just arrived on the scene and we'll have a live report at the top of the hour. >>> now to our continuing coverage of the california drought. despite today's impending rainstorm, the call to conserve is growing much louder. last night the santa clara valley water district voted to ask customers to cut water use by 20%. that is up from 10% last month. the district is also digging deeper into ground water supplies. the situation statewide is the worst they have ever seen. >> it gets harder every drought because we already have that low flush toilet. we already have our low shower head or whatever. >> here are the local conservation numbers. they asked for a 10% reduction. customers are using less water. official numbers come out next week. marin's water district asked for a 25% reduction. usage there down 17% compared to a similar week last february. and east bay mud urged 10% cut. usage there dropped nearly 4.5%. nasa took these photos of folsom lake. hard to believe. this is near sacramento. the last picture taken in 2011 when the lake was at 97% capacity. now t

ktvu's alex savidge joins us live from the crash scene to tell us what is happening there right now. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning to you, tori. pittsburg police have confirmed this was a stolen truck killing the driver and the accident also took out a pair of power poles here on west 10th street near beacon street where we are. you can see both directions of the roadway blocked right now. more than 200 people are without power because of this accident and if you look down there, you can see a lot of crews are out here including pg&e crews trying to do repair work and get the power turned back on. the accident was at 1:00 this morning. because police believe this truck was stolen when they arrived here at the scene. officers moved in with their guns drawn. that truck had slammed straight into a power pole and pg&e workers had to come in and de- energize some of the downed lines to make this scene safe for others. the man driving the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. and all morning this crash has made life difficult for people who live nearby. they woke up to fin
