ktvu alex savidge has been talking to fire investigators. there, so what are they saying? >> reporter: well, dave, good morning to you. nova to fire investigators are mapping all of the fires that broke out early this morning. gathering evidence at the variation crime scenes. we're right at the end of columbine lane. and up this path. up this hill here is where a fire was set early this morning. investigators believe it was set intentionally. you can see the area is roped off there. this is a fairly small fire as they all were. this one a quartier of an acre or so. this was one of six suspicious fires that was set early this morning and they all broke out just within three hours of each other. they were all in this same area near 101 and highway 37 here in novato. five of the fires burned through brush but there was one fire set inside of a garage and burned a car. that was on trinity drive. and in that case the homeowner suffered smoke inhalation when he came down and put out that car fire himself. he was taken to the hospital but is expect

ktvu alex savidge is in oakland this morning where police are attempting to sort out exactly what happened. alex. >> reporter: there is a lot to sort out here. oakland police are questioning they say at least three people about this possible kidnapping. you can see behind us here crime scene tape is still up. investigators are still out here gathering evidence at the scene. this is the house where those three people were taken into custody not long ago. it's up on the right hand side. this is an 75th avenue. just off bancroft. and you can hear police officers ordering people out of the house this morning. everyone inside did give themselves up peacefully. a sergeant told me this all began with a call to police around 10:00 last night. someone reported a woman who was being held against her will at this house. now police checked several different houses before they wound up here at this place on 75th avenue. i'm told the victim was rescued and doing fine. police cannot say why she was being held. that is part of what they are looking into now. we will get more information. if we learn anyth

alex savidge is at the scene. hail lex, we're -- alex, we're getting a look at surveillance video that shows the crime? >> reporter: we are. i just saw that video and really, it's disturbing to watch. it shows the driver purposely veering their car into a man who was standing here in the middle of the street last night. this happened on webster near 29th just before 9:30. now this is a still image from that surveillance video that shows a silver car that was involved in this crash speeding away from the scene. oakland police haven't said what type of car this might be but this afternoon, detectives are trying to track down the driver who can be seen aiming their car at a 50-year-old man in the street and then plowing right into him and taking off. the motive is unclear here but just before the crash, surveillance video shows two people punching the victim while he's down on the ground. moments after that, a car comes racing up the street and then strikes the victim and leaves. the man's name is not being released.
