good evening, i'm allen martin. >> i'm veronica de la cruz.pened near pinewood road and highway 13 in the oakland hills. kpix 5's ken bastida has more. >> reporter: it's changing by the minute. within the last 30 minutes or so we found out the two suspects are apparently carjackers who tried stealing a vehicle a little earlier today and that's when they were spotted by police officers. take a look at the video from chopper 5 a short time ago. that stolen vehicle appears to have rolled down an embankment. there it is upside-down. taking out a number of trees and shrubs on the way down. this was not a gentle crash. the surprising part of it, the two suspects inside were able to climb out and then run away. there's another look from chopper 5 of the search area where we are just getting word that the two suspects have been taken into custody. they were spotted near the crash scene. several officers from the oakland police department and the chp set up a perimeter in the neighborhood and made sure that the suspects couldn't get away. we are also h

allen martin tells us it's case closed tonight for two high profile bay area murders. >> reporter: in marin county superior court this afternoon the suspects pleaded guilty to first degree murder. 24-year-old morrison lampley faces a sentence of 100 years to life in prison. his girl friend 19-year-old lila alligood faces 50 years to life. >> they waived their appellate rights which is a big, big factor here because we know, i've prosecuted cases like this before. personally ill just know these appeals can -- i just know these appeals can go on for decades. >> they're charged in the murders of canadian tourist audrey carrie in golden gate -- carey in golden gate park and steve carter outside a trail in 2015. a third drifter already testified in may and planned to testify against the other two. sentencing is scheduled for april 18th. >>> a fire gutted part of a religious center in livermore tonight around 8:00 at vineyard christian fellowship on north livermore avenue. four classrooms burned. two employees got out safely. then one tried to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. th

. >> i'm allen martin.d off of fremont street near concord avenue, not far from 680. kpix 5's elizabeth cook is following developments in the newsroom. >> reporter: we are learning the pitbull went after a 10 month old boy. chopper 5 live over the scene right now. this happened just after 4 p.m. at a multiunit building. we have learned the family called for help when their dog began acting aggressively and attacked their boy. medical responders were unable to get to the toddler inside an apartment. the dog was apparently in a courtyard and the mother was too afraid to come out. incredibly, an officer ran into the apartment, got the child and brought him to paramedics. officers were forced to shoot and kill the dog. we learned the boy is at the hospital with a laceration to his head but is expected to recover. we have a crew in route and will bring you details as they come in. elizabeth cook, kpix 5. >>> the bart slump, despite packed trains, ridership is on the decline. we have more on how commuters could e
