. >> allison chinchar is joining us from the weather center. what can we expect from these storms?hd this threat. it stretches from eastern colorado all the way down through mississippi. you're talking a lot of people with the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. already we have some of these thunderstorms ongoing across the southern plains. a lot of lightning with these storms. so even though we don't have any warned storms yet, we are st starting to see this line intensify as it continues to make its way off to the east. areas of oklahoma, but also this cluster here across portions of arkansas. once we go into the latter portion of the day, we expect a second round of thunderstorms to develop late afternoon and into the early evening hours. the main threats are damaging winds and the potential for large hail. we're talking tennis balls or largeer when we talk about the size of that hail. dallas, houston, little rock, stretching down through jackson, mississippi, and even shreveport all have the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms. you saw the ones ongoing alread
