in georgia watching all of this, eight hours to vote, amara, that is a considerably long line?wild, isn't it? so that eight-hour wait time in gwinnett county. on tuesday down to six hour wait times. now the wait time there in gwinnett county is two hours. here at fulton county at this particular polling site this morning, people are lining up starting at 6:00 in the morning. the wait time about three hours. now it's down to about 45 minutes. part of the reason why we've been seeing such long lines around the state, brianna, is that many polling site are still having problems related to the electronic poll pads. that's basically electronic check-in system, verifies voter registration and generates id card to vote on the touch screen machines of the secretary of state today said in a news conference, yes, this is a statewide issue we're seeing that we're seeing slowdowns in the system because there's just not enough bandwidth. all of these polling sites are logging onto digital record data system for the state at the same time. in fact, in gwinnett county north of here, a spokesp

amara, what are causing the long wait times?s good to see the electorate engaged in voting but no one should have to wait ten hours. >> reporter: yeah, and actually this location, poly, isn't so bad right now, it's only about an hour, hour and a half wait time. i say only because we were at another polling location yesterday where the wait time was between six to eight hours. but i can tell you the long wait times in general are because of record turnout. the georgia secretary of state gave those numbers of 130,000 georgians voting on the first day of early voting, that is a record turnout. and a 40% increase from the last record in 2016 on the first day of early voting. you can see the line here, we are at an early voting site in fulton county, the line has been building since 6:00 this morning. the wait time about an hour and a half, not bad compared to use when the wait time was about three hours here. i want to introduce now you to a couple voters who have been in line, ashley reed and dwayne newman. you guys voted, you vote

amara walker has more. what are you experiencing right now?rter: we just got hit with a powerful wind gust. we're going through the worst of hurricane zeta. as you can -- as you can see behind me, just a few moments ago, it sounded like a freight train was rolling through here, but officials have been saying this is going to be a quick and brutal storm. i can confirm the brutal part for sure. there have not been any mandatory evacuations in the city of new orleans. so for the most part, people are hunkered down in their homes, in their hotel rooms riding out this storm. the biggest concern with officials is complacency. this is the fifth named storm to hit louisiana just this season. and many people i talked to on the streets have been telling me they're just so sick and tired of having to prepare for storm after storm. there are about 3500 evacuees from laura and hurricanes delta who are still displaced and scattered around hotel rooms here in new orleans. and they are once again dealing with yet another hurricane riding out this storm. pou p
