next so if you remember the whole deal happened because bank of america was passed by lehman brothers and then merrill lynch c.e.o. swooped in and said hey if you're going to buy an investment bank by us and of course you know lehman failed of that weekend because bank of america didn't buy it but then once bank of america bought merrill lynch the deal was done in forty eight hours it was really sloppy they overpaid for it you know the merrill share price was seventeen dollars a share and merrill paid twenty nine dollars a share so just from the beginning this was a really rich deal for a struggling bank and a lot of shareholders thought why are you paying so much and at the same time bank of america stock price fell twenty billion dollars in only two trading days so they were feeling the pain right away they might have been able to look past that if it hadn't come out within a matter of months that merrill lynch was sitting on seventy billion dollars of losses in credit default swaps and things like that and the shareholders thought you guys were supposed to investigate this deal you

because after fighting for america, you shouldn't have to fight for a job in america. these are america's commitments. to you and all who serve. because we need to be there for you just like you were there for us. not just this year or next, but for all of the years to come. that's the lesson of a soldier i had the honor to meet the last time i was in afghanistan visiting some of our wounded warriors in the hospital. sergeant chase peg is 22 years old. this past spring, he was with his team when their vehicle got hit by an ied the day that i flew in. so when i arrived at his hospital room, he and his buddies were all in bad shape. he was in bad shape. his leg was broken, back was fractured, laying there on his bed, under a lot of medication. face swollen, eyes were shut. and at first i -- my attitude was i didn't want to disturb him because i thought he was sleeping. the doctors said, no, i think he can understand what you're saying even if he can't acknowledge it. and i think he'd appreciate knowing that you're by his side. so i leaned in and i told chase how proud i

first let's start with america, because america is a melting pot of immigrants, so if you took all of the immigrants out of america, you would be missing a lot of flavor. the reason we love america so much is because america is the only place you can actually come in and wave your flag. being from another country, clearly you are in the united states of america, and the thing america allows you to do is to be able to -- you are waving the flag to say, we are here in america, and we made it, so the saying america loves you to be is it is the country of opportunity, so even when you go to the boxing matches, the fighter is in america, so you are proud to be in america, so i never look at us immigrants -- you have what is called the american dream, so without the american you would not have america, so it was important. when we wave the flag and we allow you to wave the flag, and when you come to the restaurants with us, we participate in the food. we all participate in the parades together, so i do not consider myself as an outsider, i am waving the flag because i am not american. i am
