talk about drivers asians with great minds that i'm joined by award winning journalist and author amy goodman amy let me package a couple of questions here and toss it to you. as a as a as a set up i'm sure you have some very strong thoughts and i would love to get your observations on this the occupy wall street movement you're referencing a few times earlier where is it going number one number two the mainstream media is attacking the movement for being leaderless and fractured i remember. you know a part of i was in the s.d.s. in the sixty's won't this movement organically move on its own despite the press trying to figure it out and also i'm curious about your thoughts on the heavy strain of ma ways of that's actually running to at least one of those smaller groups those trying to co-opt the occupy movements along with people like the democratic party trying to occupy it but i had a several people call in to my radio show over the last couple days and say almost always using identical phraseology that the machine must be brought down totally and that every aspect of american institutions

on that government and religion shouldn't shouldn't be mix of i'd like to move on afghanistan as amy goodman pointed out a little earlier today is the tenth anniversary of our invasion of afghanistan this is now the longest war in the history of the united states george washington didn't fight a war the still no president has fought a war this though i would say frankly that it's not a war there's a there's been no declaration of war and b. looks more like an occupation to me than a war occupations tend to go very very badly as as the soviet union found the same place so any of general mcchrystal came out and said today and this is astounding i remember in the last year the bush administration i was down in new york it was an off the record interview not authorized but it was going to kind of hit with mcchrystal and i said you know what when he was running the afghanistan program and i said you know what are you going to about afghanistan and he said i don't think we can kill our way out of this and i came back on the radio reported i couldn't i couldn't name him at the time i can now anyhow
