amy hollyfield joins us outside court with more. >> reporter: good morning. there were 11 occupy oakland protesters in court today they had a lot of support. we saw about 50 activists and they had a peaceful presence in court. they watched quietly as their fellow occupiers appeared. the defendants were charged with maliciously blocking a sidewalk and they did not enter pleas they told us they want to file a motion to dismiss the charges. the attorneys say they believe the charges are bonus. those who were in court told us it was comforting to have the other activists here. >> occupiers are great we turn out and support our friends. there are a bunch supportedding us arrested unjustly this was a -- peaceful group. >> that is inappropriate to convert this charge to charge people for blogging the sidewalk for ultimately just participating in a social movement that is addressing some of the most desperate problems that we have as a country today. >> reporter: the night these people were arrested was a quiet night in the occupy movement. it was january 4th. these
