tonight, a conversation with one of my favorite people, angela lansbury. of she is, of course, an oscar recipient for her distinguished film career. she's also been honored with five tony award for her broadway work. earlier this year the queen dubbed her dame of the british empire. when we last talked, she was of heading to london, to the west end, to star in a revival of "blind spirit." she's brought the production back stateside. it has just opened in los angeles. the first leg of the tour that continues next year. we're glad you've joined us for a conversation with dame angela lansbury coming up right now. ♪ >>> and by contributions to your pbs station from viewers like you. thank you. >> when angela lansbury of last in this -- was last in this studio you about a year ago, she was heading to london to bring "blithe spirit" to the west end. the comedy just opened in los angeles, thankfully, and will continue on tour next year. let's start our conversation with a look at "blithe spirit." and her family well. >> angela is a wonderful mother. warm, caring. >> now she cares for her family in a former church playroom converted to a makeshift home. the kids sleep behind a partition. angela and her new husband, an american citizen, have their own bedroom, and the family uses the church kitchen. they're being helped by west kensington ministry, the presbyterian church she now calls home, and the new sanctuary movement in philadelphia. >> you're condoning breaking the law. >> yes. >> what do you say request. >> when a law violates our moral values, i feel we're called to challenge that law. so in this case when we have a law that is separating families that is criminalizing people. >> reporter: angela moved in to the church just days before president obama announced his immigration fix, worried about the deportation order hanging over her head. immigration lawyers we spoke to believe that angela will still be eligible for relief, but even so it will only be temporary unless congress acts. >> do you have a message for congress? >

her home turf but the criticism of angela merkel is growing. terry martin joins us now from cologne. what can we expect from a newly invigorated chancellor merkel? what will hear priorities be. >> she made it clear in her speech she wanted to tweak the tax system in germany, but she said some very interesting things about party politics. she slammed her current coalition partner for entering an alliance with the left party, but she also said last year, following the federal election, her party would have liked to have gone into coalition with the greens, but the greens about 12. then she said the national coalition party would be the free democrats and they are not even represented in parliament anymore, so it is clear she does not want to make it too easy for her current coalition partners. >> how long can she govern? are we looking at an open ended your of merkel? fax she could be headed toward another term in 2017. she's in her third term and she is extremely popular, pulling almost 70% approval rating. more than half the country say they wa
