one of the most sobering aspects telling annie's story of war -- telling annie's story of war is the human aspect of it. we tell that aspect here as well. in this subject of the exhibition we have drawings and paintings of military casualties and prisoners of war. and the ultimate sacrifice that they had made in the first world war. this is a simple drawing but perhaps one of the most powerful ones in this section, with the soldier who has come to the loss of a comrade in arms. one of the most famous paintings in the house collection is in the section on the wire. another harvey done painting and like the century that we looked at the beginning of the exhibition. i think this is a very powerful expression of the idea we talked about earlier with the individual being a part of a larger historical event. here we see 2 soldiers carrying the comrade across the battlefield. it is a very moving way which depicts the soldiers experience. perhaps the most powerful object is this wheelchair. actual wheelchair used in world war i. it came from a private collection in france. in my view it real
