"action news" reporter annie mccormick is following the story live tonight. any. >> reporter: and shirleen, this is a violent struggle that left one man dead. the homeowner in custody, and a 3-year-old boy slept through the entire things and tonight he's safe with police. homicide detectives on the scene in the 3200 block of summer street where police say a man violently stabbed another man inside the kitchen of this home. a jarring call came into 911. >> just after 7:30 p.m., 16th district police responded to report of a person screaming and person with a weapon. >> reporter: police describe a gruesome scene that spread through several rooms ending in kitchen. >> they found a 57-year-old male stabbed multiple times, head, neck, chest, as well as extremities. >> witnesses told police the 59-year-old home owner was responsible and he surrendered to police. police say the 57-year-old victim and suspect were acquittances. this 3-year-old boy was sleeping through the violent fight. police took the child and two female witnesses to homicide and all were unharmed.
