first of all a live look, another life look from the circles camera in apollo beach. great place to get out enjoy boating or maybe take a little break from the heat. it will get hot today. things are heating up in the tropics now. this is your average season. for main storms and hurricanes and extreme category three or higher storms. forecast came out and they went up in numbers. they could be between 12 and 17 hurricanes and 2 to 4 category three or higher. now we are saying not happening in the gulf of mexico. nothing going on in the caribbean but in the atlantic we're seeing bubbling up including this one. this is fiona. still a tropical storm and it won't get much stronger. it will curve and go into the atlantic. the one over here is looking a little bit more promising for development. the hurricane center says it development over the next five days. there's another storm that has just now rolled off the african coast line and it is not even getting the spaghetti models yet but it looks like it has an 80% chance of development. we will keep an eye on things and le

clearwater beach apollo beach 82. arcadia sarasota 82. clouds continue down at the south with the tropical depression farther to about 200 miles west of key west. helping to control the flow easterly flow is in place and will be for the next several days as that flow will continue to drag across the state. lots of atmospheric moisture so showers can certainly start. look at the hurricane hunter aircraft flying out of the tampa bay area. 40 mile per hour gusts now. most of the thunderstorm activity closer to cuba really. with air space there. 35 mile per hour winds as you can see 200 miles west of key west. which is right there and directly to the west the center exposed as we showed you at the top of the newscast. dry air here too colored in red. that and wind sheer coming off an upper low to the north. pushing the thunderstorm activity to the south of the center itself. the all important track. this will likely change but fairly consistent roy computer model that is we showed you. really keep an eye on this whole area here. this cone of

we're seeing clouds as we look out from circles in apollo beach. some of the clouds have brought a wee bit of rain but we are not looking for a tremendous amount of rain early on. that will come later in the afternoon. i want to give you a view of what we're looking at as far as the hurricane season goes. we have come through slow once but by the end of august and into september and october that is when we see more activity. although we are not seeing much activity now. not to the caribbean or through the atlantic and no development expected over the next several days. like a pop of color. what you don't see on this graphic is the massive humidity and that is because we have a lot of water vapor in the atmosphere and precipitate bowater is -- water is huge. it is not like it is out here to the. new orleans has finally seen some slacking up of the rain but it's headed over towards texas. that area of low pressure is the area of lingered last weekend and slowly moved. we are going to see the moisture coming from the south and east. it will be breezy

a gorgeous shot from apollo beach. just a few clouds out there into the gulf of mexico. there are showers associated moving onshore yet. and we don't expect them to. let's check out the tropics. this is the time of year where we start to see the numbers of storms increase. the actual peak of the hurricane season is 10 september so we are heading right toward that. and we are checking out a couple of disturbances out into the atlantic looks like this will kind of curve this way and be a fish storm but this area down here is showing development and folks at the national hurricanes center are pinning this at a 50% chance of development over the next five days. the track on this one takes it a little further south into the island. so that will bear us watching. first, we will continue to give abcactionnews.com. and if anything breaks or gets tricky, we will be sure to let you know. closer to home, we do have showers offshore and nothing is showing up onshore yet here, though, we did have some pretty good rains mr. yesterday afternoon here especially through pinellas county.

you have a few -- pretty quiet looking scene circles apollo beach. so some res spit from the heavy rain but look at titan doppler radar, there's a lot to come but still from the gulf, that will continue to move north and east. so the areas that have been seeing flooding will continue to be under that threat as we get these pockets of very heavy weather. the trend has been for these to weaken as they move in. that we have this train on top of pasco, getting a bit of a break now but all this has to fill in so st. pete getting in on some heavy rain the next few minutes here. of course you follow the train tracks and we have more moisture coming in. this is all getting pulled in and has been getting pulled in the last few days from this area of low pressure to our north. as long as that is there we're going to keep raining buckets but it's not going to stay there. it's going to begin to move west. we'll lose the influence across our area. another to two to four inches now and that prompts the flood p.m. tonight. these are some of of the tallies. pick you

take a look at circles of apollo beach camera. beautiful across the marina. there are clouds on the left that are starting to build a bit. as we look at the radar there, are a few showers and st the macdill air force base area. this is all moving inland now. it is a west to east flow. pinellas park getting pounded by downpours. that is about to move into the feather sound area and possibly across part of the howard franklin or courtney campbell bridges. that would be the gandy bridge not the courtney campbell. we have had hit and miss corridor. it will be hit and miss throughout sunset. then we will taper off after that. take a look at futurecast. by 8:00, we still have a few lingering showers through polk county, into sumter, and into arcadia. and then it tapers off after that, leaving us dry by midnight. tomorrow morning when you wake up, maybe you want to go for the saturday morning bike ride or jog. things will be nice and dry. with the west to east flow, we will have a slight chance for rain before very little coverage developing between noon and 8:00 to

in apollo beach at 75 degrees. wesley chapel at 75. new port richey at 76. trying to pick up spots i haven't said already this morning. lakewood ranch, 74. myakka city at 73 and this is comfy. 73 to 75 degrees in all of polk county, hardee, de soto and highlands county. it's a great start. going to be a stormy finish. now, what will happen is southeasterly winds will start the day. the lower 90s and then the sea breezes are going to start. they'll meet at five, give or take a half an hour, sometime in that time frame. then all of a sudden, the storms are just going to boom, pop like they did yesterday and then drift back toward the coast. so if you're at the coast, it will be toward the evening as the sun is going down and the storms come in, they'll be coming from the east. if you live along o boy, things are rocking and rolling there last night. same thing might happen again today, too. overall rain chances are going to run 40% along the coast, 50% inland. high temperatures, though, pretty close to normal, about 91 degrees. it felt really hot yesterday bec

darker clouds across the apollo beach circles camera. you can still see summer weather. but we have more storms this afternoon than what we have seen, even yesterday. yesterday was active as well. the heavy downpours coming across the southern counties and moving across i-4 now. hillsborough county has been inundated with lots of rain and lightning. and then more showers and storms moving across pasco and into hernando county. isolated batch of heavier rain and things still pretty busy there to the south in our southern counties. across highlands, desoto, har deem now, as -- hardee. now, as we look at the wind speeds, we know it will make its path into the bend of florida over the next 24 hours. by thursday morning, as this is moving on shore, if you remember, that yellow band was right against our northern countiesesterday. and now it looks like it is just slightly farther to the so what does that mean? this yellow area is sustained winds up to 39 miles per hour. and then in the center, that's where we have a small tcof sustained winds up to 60 miles per hour. mainly wh

apollo beach, 77. nine down to the south but the counterclockwise wind flow around it for us means a southeast wind and that pulls up more moisture which is why i bumped up the rain chance for today. and i may start the showers earlier, maybe about 11:00 a.m. or noon as. toward 4:00 p.m., everything is caught up in the flow so the storms will push from inland areas toward the coast. better rain coverage around 3 :00, 4:00, 5:00 before everything pushes out into the gulf of mexico. and i believe we will taper most of the rain chances out the forecast overnight. but tomorrow morning, that tropical moisture continues to increase. and so do our rain chances, all wrapping around this area of low pressure so that tomorrow's rain chance goes up to 60%. and then after that of course will be dependent on the eventual track of tropical depression nine. at this point, it heads into the central gulf of mexico, warm water out there, really a chance to strengthen to a tropical storm status by tomorrow. before making
