she will join us with a live report. >>> new details on the deadly asiana airplane crash.here's a report out that the pilots are blaming mechanical problems. the black box recorders are telling a different story. katie marzulo has a different story. >> we know the investigation is on hold because of the government shutdown but "the wall street journal" citing people familiar with the investigation so far says there's this discrepancy. the journal reports ntsb investigators have not found any mechanical nor electrical problems with the twin engine jet prior to impact. those same sources say the pilots have told investigators they believe the automated speed control system, called the auto throttle, disconnected on its own allegedly without any warning to the crew. now supporting the pilot account, asiana 777 maintenance logs show a number of, quote, uncommanded auto throttle disconnects. asiana officials reportedly plan to bring that up to the ntsb in person when they visit the board in the coming months. early next year the ntsb is going to hold a public hearing. they said

ntsb officials went to korea to interview asiana officials. they spent time in an aircraft simulator and gathered asiana training documents. they want to know whether the cockpit crew had enough instruction on how to fly the highly automated boeing 777. it may help explain why the plane fell short of the runway hitting a rock wall at sfo. the ntsb is also reviewing maintenance records and scouring the reckage once again. they are also working on a computer simulation of the crash to better understand what happened last summer. we will hear more from the ntsb in december when a two-day investigative hearing about the crash will take place here in washington. we've also discovered that the ntsb is looking at something else. emergency evacuation slides. one didn't open outside of the plane, it opened inside pinning two flight attendants to the floor. tonight on channel 2 news, my investigation of the faulty slides and my federal investigators probably weren't surprised they -- why federal investigators probably weren't surprised they didn't work.
