i'm president of the bar association of san francisco. basf, as we note the bar association to be called, has had a long relationship with the public defenders office. it is crucially important for administration of justice. and so is san francisco conflicts panels where administration, which the bar association has provided in partnership with public defenders. so in san francisco when a public defender has a conflict of interest, criminal defendants and minors are represented by private attorneys from a panel administered by the bar association of san francisco. maintaining this independent body of attorneys is critically important as a well-run public defenders office. we are each other's complement. we are the sum of the parts that makes whole the criminal departments working so well in san francisco. in 2003 the superior court contracted with the bar association of san francisco indigent to have cost-saving oversight to the administration and billing associated with conflicts. so tron is the director of the courts administration and

i'm on the board of the neighborhood association. i don't want to be here tonight, and i didn't want to be at the planning commission hearing where mr. braunstein's c.u. was nearly revoked. i didn't want to be at any of the other meetings we had over the last two years trying to get resolution on this noise issue. but this has been a litany of broken promises and lies from the very beginning. greg came to our organization. he had the existing bar on the site. there had been a lot of noise problems there. and one of the reasons that we supported his plans to basically completely reconstruct the building is that he promised that the noise issues would be addressed and we wouldn't have them to worry about anymore. that didn't happen. and even very specific things that he agreed to. the building has sort of an air lock door system where there are two doors, and you have to go through one door and then another door to get in. the conditions of use specified that the outer tour always be kept shut. he said the east most outer door would on

and that is the policy of the united association. and local 38's members should be very proud of their leadership that they're able to lead them down this road. i was reading through this little booklet here before i came up, and it gives a little history of training in the united association. it mentions the itf board, which runs all the training. it mentions that larry is a member of that board. what it does not mention is when the board was started, larry, senior, was one of the founding members and the chairman for most of the life of that board and has worked very hard, not only here in his local, local 38, to make sure that training is as good as it is, but has worked very hard all over hardua, through the itf, to make sure all local train like his local. his leadership goes beyond anything we can thank him for. i do want to thank you it at this time, larry, for all you have done for local 38 and for all you have done for the united association, and especially in the training. i have been very proud to work with you over the ye

my name is janet carpenelli, president of dog patch neighborhood association. ways going to read my letter but have you it there and also actually the things that david talked about here were pretty much what i was going to talk about. we're especially happy that the project sponsor offered to support our local other nonprofit groups, which is green trust s.f. what we're doing there is greening 22nd street, our little neighborhood commercial strip, it's part of the eastern neighborhoods green street plan and designated green streets. we have been working privately to start that project along. and as well we have the historic scott school on tennessee street, which is in a lot of need of restoration but right now we have the idea to put the two out buildings to use as a nursery school and family center. and that group has been fantastic in raising so much money for that and they're also giving us the money for the family center so that will help that project break around this year. so i think that's all i have to say in particular about the project. one thing i
