now to atlantic city casino crisis. giving its union an ultimatum. the union does not drop its appeal of a savings package to keep the casino alive, they will shut it down next month leaving 3,000 employees out of work. the union blames carl icahn and says if he didn't increase the interest rate there would be enough money for all workers to have health insurance. trump's ceo sent a letter to workers saying we tried everything to save this company. the letter continues, this is like a spoiled child. saying to his parents who have just gone bankrupt, i will not under any circumstances give up my fancy sports car. meantime, a new jersey lawmaker thinks he can help stabilize atlantic city financial crisis. yesterday state senate president outlined a plan that he says will raise $305 million towards the city's $377 million tax levee. it would establish a set amount that the casinos pay in taxes each year and also allow all casino operators to pay health care and retirement benefits for employees and it would redirect gambling taxes to pay off debt. >>> t

nbc 10's jesse gary is live in atlantic city. this is not only causing a strain at the food banks but is also contributing to another, ongoing problem. tell us more about that. >> reporter: tracy, that's right. a flood of foreclosures started during the depth of the down economy. those are all being processed right now. add to that more property all due to the casino crisis. now, i did some digging, and i found that south jersey has four of the five highest foreclosure rates in the state, and this county, atlantic county, has seen a year-to-year increase of 115%. the result has been people who once worked at casinos to a food bank that sits in the shadows of their former job sites. >> people can't afford to pay their mortgage, have two car payments, keep their child in a catholic school. it's a tough time right now in atlantic city. >> reporter: monsignor william hodge of st. nicholas of tolentine roman catholic church says those who are helping are now in need of help themselves. i checked in with another food bank here to see i

take a look at atlantic city. only 30 degrees with a few clouds.e are going to see sunny skies heading into the rest of today, but our temperatures in the poconos in the mid-20s. only at 24 degrees in allentown and 31 in reading and 29 in coatsville and 33 degrees in swedesboro and 33 in mount holly and closer to the shore, a bit warmer still cold 35 degrees and 33 degrees in millville. the feels-like temperature as you step out the door, 17 degrees in allentown and only feels like 16 in the poconos and feeling like 28 in pottstown and 27 in philadelphia. we saw a few flurries and plenty of sunshine and cold conditions. don't let the sunshine fool you. as we head into your saturday, we have a slight chance of a quick burst of snow, this is close to noon, by 1:00 it's already gone. so, just a few passing snow flurries heading into the afternoon. temperatures expected to warm into the low 40s for saturday and as we push into sunday. that's when we'll finally get back into the 50s. we stay there heading into monday. by next week, we drop back down int

atlantic city, 5:36. it will be hitting all the shore points from atlantic city down to cape may. mays landing seeing heavy rain across the ac expressway. this is moving into parts of cape may county now, dennis starting to see the heavy rain. egg harbor on the edge of some of that heavier rain. this is all continuing to slide toward the shore. and some of the heavier rain in parts of the delaware bay now moving into the lower parts of so the rain is approaching this area, too. and our shore points, again, here. aside from that, we still have more rain moving through parts of salem, gloucester, cumberland counties. and also up into parts of camden counties seeing heavier rain toward waterford and also into burlington county across the major interstates here. this also extends back toward parts of delaware county. across all the major interstates up toward trenton, across i-95, i-95-295 we're seeing more moderate rainfall on the new jersey side as well. here's what center city looks like. we still have the low clouds. we still have the rain falling. already set. you. moisture still
