the as the storm system is back over the opened waters of the atlantic. the water temperature right now at 85 degrees. we do expect some vent evening and some intensification, with the next 24 hours, just off of our shoreline and eventually as this storm system works its way to the north and east. current track with with hermines 170 miles east south east of virginia. it is moving due east at 12 miles an hour. that is important because all of yesterday, the wind, and the movement with it, had about 20 miles per hour. so we have decreased its forward motion here, and we do expect this to intensify, to hurricane strength wind, later on sunday night into monday. at that point, it will make its closest jog, to the west, and to the the west, close to our shoreline. and then it sits, spins, meanders as we get into early next week. with that said there is some precaution toss keep in mind. tropical storm warnings are placed, from sea side heights to cape may for new jersey coastline, for delaware bay, also delaware beaches which means tropical storm conditions a

atlantic city at the airport, 63.hiladelphia, 64. and dover, checking in at 66 degrees. here's the latest on hermine. you can see it spinning this huge counter clockwise circulation wrapping around the center which is approximately 300 miles out to sea, the rain bands are well off to the north. this again is expected to take somewhat of a jog closer to the coast over the next 24 to 36 hours, look at the trajectory of the line here you're piling the water in on the coast. the problem a little is, we have a high tide that's higher than normal. when low tide comes because of the onshore flow, the water can't recede, so the low tide comes. these are the spaghetti plots, there's uncertainty in the exact track of the storm. obviously the closer it turns to the coast, the greater the impact it's going to be. farther a way, the less of the impact. this one is close to the coast, these models have it 100 miles east of what that model is suggesting. that 100-mile shift, until it makes that turn toward the east/northeast that's

something to keep in mind as this is out over the atlantic is that it is entering the gulf stream, the water temperature is 85 degrees so we do expect some strengthening and intensification with the storm as we get into the second half of our holiday weekend into the day on monday. the latest stats have it at 235 east of norfolk virginia and majority of the day this is jogging due east and now starting to see the turn to the north and east but the national hurricane center still feels like this will take that northwesterly left hook as we get into late sunday and into monday and at that point we do expect this to strengthen to hurricane status with winds at 75 miles per hour. the problem however it sits and spins and meanders in monday, tuesday and wednesday of next week. so we have to take precaution with a tropical storm warning sea side heights to cape may and delaware and delaware beach as well and tropical conditions and at the coast we will see the worst of the storm and bring in metrologist adam joseph with the latest on that. not flooding because of a driving rain which you typ

and atlantic city, 65. here's the storm, spinning its wheels a good 300-plus miles off the coast of atlantic city. all the showers an storms are out here east of the storm. what will happen, as the storm puts on the brakes and makes a jog to the west again this cluster of showers and thunderstorms will wrap in on the oarldz that's what will -- other side, that's what will close in on the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. hermine 65 miles per hour gusts to 70. moving to the east, northeast at 12 miles per hour expected to make the left-hand turn before heading out to sea, tuesday, wednesday and thursday. how close to the coast does it get? that's the question mark at this point. the closer it is to the coastline, the worst the impact. the farther it is out to sea, the less the impact. right now we're a little up in the air as to how severe the storm will be. we're expecting one thing for certain, the flooding will be moderate to possibly major up and down the shoreline from lakehurst to wildwood. future

eleven in atlantic city. that will increase tonight and certainly on labor day. let's go through time and look at these wind gusts, areas inland no effect from the storm system because it is so far off shore but right along the coast tonight we will start gusting over 30, getting close to 40 miles an hour. maybe up to 50 during the day on monday. so tomorrow will be more windy, here along the immediate the shoreline and then starting on tuesday, storm slowly pulse back to the north and east. wind relax a little bit. looking at future weather model. here's the storm this afternoon couple hundred miles off the coast, and tries to move a little west ward over the next 24 hours we call that retro grading because of the high pressure system just blocking it. this storm has no where to go until that high breaks down and this storm still lingering over our region off shore tuesday but we will clear out the skies, that turns out to be not a bad tuesday, as well as far as sky conditions go but persistent on shore wind through at least monday, possibly into tuesday morning

and a tropical storm watch from our area from surf city to atlantic city to rebone only beach. this is moving northeast at 18 miles per hour. and the storm system is riding over the carolinas later today and eventually pushing off the mid-atlantic coast and stalling into the weekend, the update from the national hurricane center is that the storm essentially strengthens from winds of 75 miles per hour to category 1 hurricane strength and even though the storm is offshore all the moisture pushes off inland and this could be a big concern with heavy wind across the region. winds are a concern and gusts of up to 60 miles per hour and beach erosion and the potential of heavy rain. this depends on the track, if it shifts further to the east or west. >> thank you melissa. lets switch now to lana zach live in charleston, south carolina. florida was hit hard by hermine and the strongest part of that storm is heading to your area next. >> reporter: that is exactly right. at this moment hermine is just a little over 100 miles away from hitting us here in charleston, we see the boats behi
