we pulled into atlantic city. right now misting a little bit here. but you can see over here over the sea wall into the bay it is not reaching sea level at this point the city here are preparing for coastal flooding. they're going to be watching the back bays here along the atlantic city coastline here. and on the bay we can see there are several homes this area does tend to have some nuisance flooding every now and then. but the atlantic city fire chief last night told us we're expecting more with that and also some potential power outagewise the heavy winds and high rains and possibly 65 mile per hour gusts. the worst part they're expecting would be early tomorrow morning at 8:00 with that flooding. because the high tides are going to be coming in cycles. the first one is going to be a little after 7:30 here in atlantic city. because of that the atlantic city has put in their high-water vehicles for the police. and they've also got protective clothes ready for the firefighters as well. they're just getting ready and being prepared just in the event

we're actually not far from atlantic city. we're here that the ventnor boat launch and i can tell you one of things that has helped at least contain the flooding the winds have been coming out of the northwest. it's a nor'easter of course those northeast winds that caused the problem but because the winds have been out of the northwest the water has pretty much been push back but the concern is that that could change tomorrow especially as we're talking more and more about the high tide. we know high tide is between 8:00 and 9:00 o'clock tonight and then about 8:00, 9:00 o'clock tomorrow morning. emergency crews have really been preparing for couple of days now now. they are anticipating the chance of moderate flooding. the potential of some fairly significant flooding in some spots. we know in atlantic city routes to try to stay off of them and use the ac expressway. in atlantic city high tide 7:58 tonight and then there could be in kind of the bays around an hour and a half later but the big worry as i mentioned is the high

bob brooks is keeping watch for us live in atlantic city. how we doing now, bob. >> reporter: good morning, matt, kind of lucky right now, i think compared to what i was up in philadelphia when i left the studio this morning, raining very hard up there. down here we have a sideways mist right now. not a lot of wind here, but the waves are picking up behind me, you can hear them and now you can see them crashing up against the rocks, officials at the beach worried about beach erosion, waves expected to climb as high as 15 feet high, i've seen the damage before that can help that's definitely a worry. also the fire chief in atlantic city, wants to tell people everyone is used to nuisance flooding this will be more than that, this is going to be a major street flooding event going to have a lot of water and road closures during high tide. we're expecting the storm to continue for two to 6 high tides. two to 6 cycles, you have to keep an eye on, sandbag your homes and doorways and remove your car from low-lying areas that salt water gets in ther

you see a band of it pushing through areas along the atlantic city expressway from atlanti county to cherry hill. getting better pushing off to the east. drying out in the northern and western suburbs, but for now wet out there and we have issues on the roads where it's coming down. a flood watch in effect from philadelphia areas north and west east. there's an area flood advisory that covers adjacent counties. everybody has the potential for rising water on the roads. high wind warning in effec todayhrough morning. for my money this will be the biggest issue of the day. winds gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour or higher. look out for down trees and wires and debris on the roads as you drive around. at the shore coastal flood watch through times of high tide tonight and tomorrow morning and at least we're looking at moderate and minor flooding up and down the delaware bays and back bays and the oceanfront. we'll track the rain which will changeover to wet snow in a lot of neighborhoods before we are done. we'll talk about the impacts of that coming up. looking live 42 creek road, northbou

eye on things and expect major street flooding to happen in about of an hour, reporting live in atlantic citybob brooks channel 6 "action news." >> delaware city has put up retaining walls to prevent flooding from the delaware river. the city installed two heavy duty portable pumps to eliminate any spill over there. let's go live to gray hall, penndot is ready to tackle any problem that might arise from the storm. >> reporter: good to hear bob brooks is having a good morning at the beach. not the case in the city. it's raining all morning. the good news it's rain and not snow. we would like to reminds you if you're -- remind you if you're heading out, use caution because of ponding and flooding. the last couple of days or so, penndot and peco has been monitoring the storm closely that will bring a mixture of wind and rain and possibility of light snow. peco saying the big concern is the the winds could knock down power lines and tree toss debris around and that could cause power outages for customers. that's not good news. penndot has workers on stands by ready to go in case they are needed.
