let's head to ava marie. what can we expect? >> a good question very sometimes mother nature throws a curve ball and it is hard to pinpoint who will get what. a mix of rain and snow across the area. we have seen heavy accumulations harford county, northern baltimore, carol and even frederick. a some places can seat up to four in a suit -- inches of snow. the transition to rain will stop the snow from falling. but until that, watch out for ice. across the metro, the white shading represents snow and pink is ice and yellow and orange are heavier rain. it is a hard line to draw who is getting rain and snow but over all you can see the transition from the south. temperatures close to the freezing mark at bwi marshall, it has warmed by one degree, good news. temperatures mid 30's 4 baltimore this afternoon which could change to rain. but north and west of the city i would be careful. if you are a north and west of the city, if you do not have to be on the roads, i would say stay home. >> the other big story. police and anne arundel c

now here's ava marie. >> thank you, dave. there could be more trouble concerns today. we are tracking the rain across richmond as the snow continues to fall into northern virginia and is making its way into maryland. i think most of this is not reaching the ground. but it does show the trend. things are starting to move into the state. we could see some snow and some sleet. the roads could be at their slickest. let's talk about the temperatures. it is cold enough that we could see snow at the airport. 36 downtown. 31 in westminster. normally the temperatures get colder as you get higher in the atmosphere. we have to watch out for that. here's a look at the forecast. mix inxpecting it wintry the mountains all day long. southern pennsylvania could also see an icy mix. 40 degrees around baltimore. rain into the afternoon. most of the accumulation will be in the mountains. they could see anywhere from 1-2 inches around hagerstown. baltimore should see minor accumulations. there could be some slick spots on the roads tomorrow morning. minor accumulation in baltimore. friday

. >> your 11 insta-weather plus forecast with ava marie. >> what a different story inaur inaur -- in our weather here, a damp start to the day, fog out there. areas of drizzle to watch out for, as well. look at the christmas lights fog.ng into the beautiful out there. we have to be careful on the roads. slick spots because of the rain and visibility is a problem, as well. as we look at the radar, we can see a few areas of drizzle showing up around the baltimore metro-area and showers off to the west, popping up near hagerstown. darker shadings of yellow showing heavier showers pushing through northern virginia. this migrates east into the next couple of hours. for now, light precipitation falling around baltimore but let's look at the fog concerns right now. it's mainly from baltimore down across the eastern shore and do delaware, as well, and down into southern maryland. these are the places that have worst of the fog right now and especially in low-lying areas, not so much on the hill tops. that's an easterly flow producing the fog with moisture pushing in across the metro-area. up

that's coming up. >> now, your 11 insta-weather plus forecast with ava marie. >> good morning. the time is 9:39, it is 53 degrees downtown. that's a live look from skycam right now, a couple of rain drops still on the camera lens. 50 degrees at b.w.i. marshall where the humidity has dropped to 93%, down from a 100% humidity earlier this morning. winds northeast 15 miles per hour. those winds and the lower humidity have helped to clear out some of the fog but rain is still an issue out on the local roads. you can see it on the radar picture with a couple of light showers out there across northern baltimore county stretching towards cecil county, as well, so 95 is still wet and we have more showers heading through carroll county back towards frederick so these are areas still with downpours to watch for. it doesn't look like much is falling, just along 95 from baltimore down to d.c. but i think there's still drizzle showing up there that the radar can't actually pick up on so just keep in mind there's still wet conditions out there as you head out this morning. fog, not so much o

. >> now, whether with meteorologist ava marie. >> approaching storm system could bring wet weather our way. for now, we are just seeing clouds. but the biggest storm system is. it is already reaching moisture in the higher atmosphere and extends into the midwest with snow across illinois and indiana and pushing into ohio. it is mostly rain all the way into tennessee. i think it will split and make its way here. we will not really see too much less. look at the radar. there are already a couple of shadings of green. that is a few isolated sprinkles trying to move through northern virginia. the rate may be falling higher in the hemisphere but it is encountering a lot of dry air over the mid atlantic because of high pressure. anything falling as basically evaporates in. it shows the atmosphere trend soaking up the moisture and that is when we start to see a better chance for rain or maybe the snow. we will track and into tomorrow. for now, the moisture is wrapping around a high pressure center and the front is in the midwest. we will check this out into tomorrow and most of that dies down

with ava marie. >> i guess it just evens out with good habits and bad habits. things are even out as well on the weather. we see this guy's car out, the temperatures warmed up and not so bad for a december day. there are just a couple sprinkle showing up on the river south of hagerstown toward frederick and some light snow flurries showing up in the western part of garrett county. it is very minimal. most of the area is dry especially over baltimore and the eastern shore and it will stay that way into the afternoon it would just be one drop of rain. that is good news for the afternoon commute. the winds are a little bumpy. you might have to grit your steering well as receive wind gusts up to 26 miles per hour at the airport and near 30 miles per hour in gaithersburg and hagerstown. it is very windy out there and the winds are coming from the west down the mountains and this helps to warm the air. it goes down the mountain in the air compressors and that causes it to warm. that is why you are seeing warm conditions east of the mountains but everywhere west is mu
