( averi ) a health scare at an elementary school in fremont. a dozen students are being tested for h-i-v and hepatitis after a child started poking other students with a diabetic needle. this happened late last month at cabrillo elementary school. one eight-year-old boy told his family he was poked in the arm with a diabetic lancet and it did draw blood. the needle was found in the street at the school near the bus turnaround. 14 children are now getting blood tests. one of the children's great grandparents says the school should have alerted them sooner. ( averi ) five days after the incident, the school started getting calls from concerned parents. the school says those parents were contacted immediately to get blood work done. one student and one employee at the school are diabetic, but they have confirmed the diabetic lancet

( averi ) this morning crewsre trying to figure out how a massive grass fire started in fairfield. highway 12 is back open and evacuation orders have been lifted for a nearby apartment complex. the fire broke out around 5 yesterday evening along highway 12 near pennsylvania avenue. firefighters were able to control the fire about two hours later. people who live in the area say this isn't the first time that field of dry grass has caught fire.
