chopper got to the scene a few minutes ago. this is southbound route 1 shut down there at prince william parkway where a pedestrian was struck that could be some time before they completely clear things out of the way there. looking better here. fingers crossed for everybody headed out of town. 95 southbound through dale city a 1 1/2 mile backup. then it kind of loosens up a bit. that's the earlier road work that did not get cleared out in in time. 95 northbound approaching the occoquan not too bad. 66 into town and out of town no issues. same thing when you look at 270 north and south and approaching b.w. parkway a little slow because of a crash off to the right side. back in ten minutes with travel times. >>> breaking news, that manhunt is over for a quadruple murder suspect. daron wint is behind bars this morning. d.c. police arrested him during a traffic stop last night. you're looking at some new video of detectives searching the car he was riding in along with other people. there's still a lot of questions to answer and connections to make in this case. including what he was at doing before he was arrested. news4's megan mcgrath is in college park where police have been posted all night. what do we know megan? >> reporter: well if you look behind me you can see the two police cruisers just down the road a little bit. we have had officers on the scene all night long. we are at the howard johnson's on route 1 in college park. they have been assigned to just keep an eye on things here through the night. now, police thought that daron wint was in new york city but they missed him there. they got information and were able to track him to the maryland hotel. sources tell news4 that they received information, investigators did, that he could be found at the howard johnson's here on route 1. the fugitive task force was preparing to move in and make an arrest. when they saw wint get into a vehicle with several other people and u.s. marshals followed them. then they pulled that vehicle over on rhode island avenue in northeast washington. and they made the arrest without incident. now, we are learning that there are two vehicles actually that are part of this. there was a sedan and there's a small box truck. both of those vehicles were towed away by police and are impounded and are now part of this criminal investigation. wint has been charged in the deaths of the savopoulos family and their housekeeper, vera figueroa. the big break of course coming in this case when police analyzed a pizza crust that was found at the crime scene. sources say that wint's dna was founden that kr-- found on that crust. that of course sparked the manhunt. that search now over as daron wint is in police custody. back to you in the studio. >> megan mcgrath on a bus to new york city. police tracked him down in brooklyn by his phone. that's where his girlfriend lives. she spent most of yesterday talking to detectives from the new york city police department. she told police that wint was headed back to d.c. to possibly surrender. police eventually caught up with him in prince george's county and he was followed into d.c. last night up and he was pulled over on rhode island avenue northeast. >>> with wint facing first degree charges as megan said even if he's convicted currently defendants cannot receive the death penalty in d.c. but if searching for suspects who almost set the fires during the recent unrest in baltimore. images of the buildings captivated the nation. there's an image of a man that they believe torched that cvs pharmacy on pennsylvania avenue. the suspects used materials they looted to start those fires. a baltimore grand jury has indicted all six baltimore police officers in the death of freddie gray. maryland state's attorney marilyn mosby announced the indictment at a short briefing yesterday. it's similar to the charges mosby announced weeks ago. some charges changed based on some new information, but mosby didn't share those details. the officers will be arraigned july 2nd. >>> a man is recovering after being hit by rocks after a quarry quarry blast in loudoun county. it sent giant rocks crashing into homes businesses in a sterling neighborhood. huge chunks of debris fell through the house on to the empty bed. there was a guy sleeping in the exact same room, right on the megan? >> reporter: well good morning. things began to unfold quickly late last night. a source tells news4 that the u.s. marshals received information that daron wint could be found at the howard johnson's hotel on route 1 in college park. the fugitive task force went to the hotel last night. they had eyes on wint but before they could arrest him, he hopped into a car with some other people and they drove away. marshals followed and ultimately they pulled the vehicle over on rhode island avenue in northeast washington. daron wint was arrested. he's been charged with first degree murder. in the deaths of the savopoulos family and their housekeeper vera figueroa. now, the murder sparked an intense manhunt that went across several states. law enforcement all around the area were on alert, looking for wint. that manhunt is now over. the search is over. daron wint has been arrested. he's now facing first degree murder charges. back to you in the studio. >> thank you. >>> for two years daron wint worked as a welder at the american iron works. savvas savopoulos was ceo of that company. we spoke to workers at the company and wint didn't have a good reputation among his former co-workers. no word yet if wint's former work history could be a motive for the savopoulos murders. in the meantime, we are digging into his criminal and military history. news4's kristin wright picks that up from the d.c. headquarters. what do we know about his back ground. >> reporter: well, firstly we know that here at police headquarters police will have a lot of questions for daron wint today as we learn more about the quadruple murder suspect's background. he was born and raised in guyana. he moved to the u.s. in 2000. he joined the marines that same year. however, didn't make it through basic training and received an honorable discharge for medical reasons. around that time, wint became a welder working at savopoulos' company from 2003 to 2005. we're told one of wint's relatives was fired from the company at one point. wint has a court record going back to 2005 that includes a conviction for assaulting a woman in 2009 and arrest in 2010 at a gas station across the street from american iron works. police say he was carrying an open container of beer a machete and a b-b gun. now, what else we do know is that wint's last known address was in lanham, maryland. relatives live there now and police have searched that home. as megan mentioned, wint's dna was found on a pizza crust at the crime scene. we know this morning that daron wint is charged with first degree murder they believe killed a d.c. family and their house keeper. police connected daron wint to several scenes including those in two states. the most recent search led police to the hotel in college park. news4's megan mcgrath breaks down that link. good morning. >> reporter: well aaron, we're here at the howard johnson's on route 1 in college park and over my shoulder here you can see a police officer who's been given the task of keeping an eye on things overnight. he has been here all night long. now, police thought that daron wint was actually in new york city. but they missed him there and they had to track him back to maryland. they got information that he was at a hotel in maryland. now, the fugitive task force was preparing to go in and make the arrest at the hotel when they saw daron wint get into a vehicle with several other people. this was late last night. u.s. marshals then began to follow that vehicle and they pulled it over on rhode island avenue in northeast washington. they towed that vehicle away as well as another vehicle. both have been impounded and are part of this investigation. one is a sedan, a car. the other is a small box truck. now, wint has been charged with first degree murder in the deaths of the savopoulos family and their housekeeper, vera figueroa. the big broke as we have been hearing came when police analyzed a pizza crust found at the crime scene. sources say that wint's dna was found on that crust. that's when they identified him as the prime suspect in the manhunt. that manhunt is now over however, daron wint now in police custody. their housekeeper captive last wednesday at a home on woodland drive in woodley park neighborhood. police believe he set their home on fire on thursday, that was hours after somebody delivered $40,000 in cash to the house. later that evening someone torched the family car in lanham. >> after wint torched that porsche, he travelled by bus to new york city and police tracked his cell phone to brooklyn. his girlfriend lives in brooklyn. she spent most of yesterday talking to detectives. she said wint was headed back to d.c. to possibly surrender and police caught up with him in prince george's county. officers followed wint into d.c. last night and pulled him over on rhode island avenue northeast. >>> developing this morning, we expect new information later today about two men in california that the fbi says wanted to join isis. lawmaker officials confirmed to nbc news the fbi arrested both men yesterday, one of them was at los angeles international airport when he was caught. the suspects were unarmed and may have been recruited via social media. >>> a d.c. woman is behind bars this morning on charges that she ran down a 68-year-old woman. 26-year-old chatara johnson is charged with involuntarily manslaughter. police say she hit and killed 68-year-old faith pines on southern avenue southeast. johnson fled the scene and reported the car stolen and she told police she knew nothing about the accident. the victim's family says they are happy about the arrest. >> i'm excited. i'm happy. i'm glad that she is arrested. but she ain't going to bring my mother back. >> i'm
