it happened during a performance of the ringling brothers and barnum and bailey circus. >> the ringling brothers sir does says nothing of this scale involving this many performers has ever happened. nine performers are in the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. it all happened at 11:45 at the dunkin' donuts center in providence. we have video of the accident. take a look at this, this is disturbing. this is also known as the human chandelier, eight performers are attached to an apparatus, all of a sudden, the apparatus gives out. and the performers, all women, fall 25 to 40 feet to the ground, injuring another dancer that was actually down below. remember, they're being hung by their hair on this apparatus. the circus says they do this act about 12 to 14 times a week, and it's been done since january of this year. the circus also says the rest of the performers are concerned, obviously, and they're sending their thoughts and prayers to them and their families. this is a tight group of people that travel together. witnesses report seeing some 35 emergency service personnel on sir
