to circulation around balboa park station, particularly the interchange at ocean avenue. the study will look at the feasibility of making changes to the ramps and rearranging the station function. the study will also provide for a new ballpark citizens community advisory committee that it was actually created by the board of supervisors in february of this year and i believe they're accepting applications at the moment. this study is -- the budget is $325,000, funded by grants from the california department of transportation, caltrans. there's a local match also involved in the study in the amount of $65,000. this study is also just at the beginning stages and we have been bringing other action items to the board for approval in the past few months, including that appropriation in the amount of $65,000 in december of 2011 and a contract award brought before this committee in february of this year which was approved as resolution 12-35. this request is for it and moa to transfer funds. we will be looking to provide the stacking support for the balboa park cac, putting toge

balboa's was first for a long time. ingall lay low joined balboa as one of the first schools. we expanded that to the rest of the comprehensive high schools this year with a grant from think california expanse -- expansion grant funded by c.d.e. we also have money from the breakfast expansion grant for middle schools for next year and the cost that's involved in doing the expansion is basically just the carts and the point of sale mobile devices so that we can do the accountability things that we need to do as children take meals at the doors. that sort of thing. there's not a charge out of the site fwouget participate. >> i think originally there was. originally there was a startup money of $0,000 that they said, if you want a grab and go breakfast, it was a startup fee for the school. the school didn't have the money, the p.t.a. paid for it. we were, i think, happy that more kids were -- but it is a deterrent for having it at your school if you're asking school sites to fund the $10,000. i understand that these schools were under a grant, this expansion but i am talking if w

here to ask you to approve the permanent installation of a commemorative plaque at boxer stadium in balboa park. d bettyvorson -- betty dvorson submitted a request to honor her late husband. upon review, rec and parks tavis and supervisor ellsberg came to the conclusion that recognizing mel dvorson was a fitting honor to a man that was dedicated to enriching the lives of many with his dedication to recreational activities. for over 40 years, he was a soccer referee in san francisco, refereed numerous games, including the trust for the 1976 olympic soccer games. in partnership with the san francisco soccer league, he was instrumental in the campaign to remain -- renamed balboa stadium after boxer. he won local awards. on a more personal note, he graduated from local high school, and then from uc- berkeley. you may know him. he was a world war ii veteran, char businessman, and a loyal family man. i believe, as does the department, that a plaque at boxer stadium in honor of him would commemorate his contributions to the game of soccer and inspire players on the field to remember the great imp

the same situation has occurred over the years periodically on balboa, the other end of washington high school. the merchants in that area, particularly food merchants, have had to get together and literally pound on the door of the high school principal and that staff in order to get anything done and at times, have actually had students get out and do the cleanup. i would make a suggestion. i cannot enforce it, but i would make a suggestion. if you would talk to your clients and have them get together with the other fast- food restaurants that are directly adjacent to them, and call on washington high school, as a group, and tell them their students are causing a problem. it has to be done periodically. the school does something -- you have to do it again. it would be an indication that there are students, over which the schools do have some immediately -- and needed control, are causing problems for the neighborhood. the kids want the restaurants. the schools want the restaurants. that is excellent for the neighborhood. but they have to get together in order to get some operation --

i know those schools a little better, but i know balboa, washington, and mission pretty well, too. did something a little different when i was working in government. when i was working at public works, i ended up having to clean all the city. the way we did it when it came to the schools was we talked to your principles and tried to get you involved. during those years, we got the saturday clean it teams, where a lot of your cohorts are getting credit for working with us. they are planting trees, like getting the environment going. i hate going to other schools. when the school is well kept, clean, when the neighbors feel that the students are in and out of the school and respecting everybody's right to have a nice place to go to, you feel a lot better. we did that with you as students, with your principals, and many of your teachers. you got credit for it as well. we even painted some of the benches red for those eagles. a lot of the other school sports areas. we are working hard to make sure you have jobs when you come out of school. that is what i have been working on.
