naacp. >> hours before day break a 76- year-old man and his wife headed out for a fishing trip. but police say as they were leaving their spot at the park in south baltimore, three men walked up and started attacking the man. police are calling the attack a hate crime. the 76-year-old victim is black and 28-year-old calvin lockenner is a suspect. >> during the interview he does not like african-americans we're treating it as a hate crime. now the chapter of the naacp is upset about the attack but not surprised by the violence. >> people think we have elected an african-american as president, things are improving. it is clear that the hate crimes are increasing. >> police say that he has a long violent history. he is on the state's sex offender registry. they arrested him for rape but the charges were dropped. earlier this year arrested again. this time for..., beating his wife for a, quote, asorbating with the americans. >> police say that he had two other suspects with him during the attack. they say the three beat the man then tried to steal the victim's truck but a tracking device led the police to lockenner. >> there was a robbery motive. three white
