this has proven to go too far in some cases for justices barrett and kavanaugh. i can't say this about every case, but we can kind of see those three justices, roberts, along with barrett and kavanaugh, at least in some cases willing to move more incrementally. roberts has always been anincrementallist on the court. he didn't have -- an incrementalist on the court. he didn't have it on his side when it came to overturning roe but he had some success this year. now, it's really hard to know why that is. one possibility is it's about ethics. one of the reasons the supreme court is losing popularity is because some of the justices, especially justices thomas and alito, have been involved in questionable ethics practices in terms of reporting gifts, reporting free trips. in the case of justice thomas, reporting that his mother had her home bought by a wealthy benefactor in texas who also paid for justice thomas' nephew's private school. there's a perception in the public that there's something wrong at the supreme court. and i think that that in part, those ethics sc
