year are going to be so, we're bond buyers here that's where value is, and stocks still need to see estimates come down. >> i want to dig into that a little more. first, barryersation your thought on the levels here for the s&p and how much seasonality, for example, might be factoring into the bounce we're seeing this week >> i think the biggest factors, the macro factors that matter most for the market is will the fed tighten what's shown in rate futures. if they do, markets are going to go down. the second biggest factor is oil. it's really at the core of all inflation. all gdp is energy conversion and if oil rackets higher, the market is going to go down the third factor we're watching is the diminishing liquidity in the treasury market. the fact that the move index of bond val tilt is way above the vix index of stock volatility. so, we're worried about that aspect as well if that gets problematic, the stock market will go down. so we really need a fed pause. now, not so much that they would outright disavow future rate hikes but they would simply say every meeting is live. if the data go our way, then after first half of '23 we don't have to do more. an

barry, every day, right? but, we have to. >> when you look at the correlation across asset classes, walking every morning and look at what the dollar is doing, if it's up, so are bond yields stocks are down, commodities are down that correlation is so intense and it's all because of the fed. and it's the -- how the fed impacts monetary policy around the rest of the world. so, you know, there's been -- this hasn't been about inflation for a number of months we saw inflation break-evens, expectations of inflation collapse in september. it's been about the fed's reaction function to september so the markets have been screaming, particularly the belly of treasury curves globally that it's time for the fed to start taking a look around and easing back >> but barry, you mentioned europe there's this weird narrative going around that everything is fine in europe, because the storage tanks are full and the weather has been great it's like, fearmongering and now everything is fine no, it's not this year -- this year is not the problem. next year is the problem and i only bring this up as related to the market discussion, because, you know, the g-7 will get together and they

bonds those two things don't make sense and they can't happen. as long as the fed stays hawkish, i think, you know, just like what barry is saying, the fed is goings of building's rents are going to stay high, wages are high, employment is still -- there's a lag effect they feel like if these numbers keep trending high, they've got to do something so i think the fed is certainly going to raise rates a few more times certainly the market has sniffed out that if the world starts breaking the fed will have to react. and so we're going to -- i think october is going to be a reversal month you've already seen the first two days, you know, yields much lower, stocks much higher, but that doesn't make the imbalances go away. and so we've got -- you know, one of the big risks in the world is japan, right? they keep buying, keep buying, keep buying. that currency takes out 145 and so there's still a ton of instability around once powell flinches i think things calm down, right? but until then and we see it, we're going to be on pins and needles. >> mike, can you hear me >> yeah. >> don't you think powell's raising vats creating even more instability? isn't
