it happened just outside the west oakland bart station. nbc bay area's emma goss spoke to witnesses and has new surveillance video of the crash. we want to warn you some people may find the video hard to watch. it happened in the blink of an eye. surveillance video from a gas station at the corner of seventh and mandela in west oakland shows the frightening moment of impact. just before three saturday afternoon, two speeding bart police patrol vehicles with sirens blaring somehow collided. then appeared to barrel into a white medical supply van, stopped at the intersection. the two after collided and both of them had their lights on, but they came to the intersection too fast. the destruction left behind catastrophic, even with the added protection of bumper guards, both police vehicles were mangled and destroyed, ending up on the sidewalk of a bus stop. glass and debris scattered across the intersection coming down from that way. he coming from that way. they didn't even press brake. they didn't even slow down. they didn't even do none of

the owner of that white medical supply van, as well as bart for comment. santa cruz is reopening two of its beaches following monday's collapse of the wharf, when a 150 foot section of the end of the wharf collapsed into the ocean due to large waves. city beaches were closed so that crews could clear out debris and make sure conditions were safe once again. officials announced yesterday they made progress with the cleanup and have opened both main and kohler beaches. if you happen to be looking to help businesses after that santa cruz wharf collapse, the city is now issuing a warning about where you donate. in a facebook post, the city says people are soliciting donations by lying that they represent closed businesses on the wharf. the city is reminding anyone who wants to donate to head to santa cruz's official social media pages and websisite. meanwhile,7 different businesses are currently closed while the city works to repair the wharf. in the meantime, santa cruz says it is working with the business owners to get some financial help, likely in the form

bart. police stopped 32 year old jasmine gao last month after getting a report of someone driving recklessly. when they pulled her over, officers say they found her car registration expired and that she was acting erratically. in the video. you just saw the two officers speak to gao. the officers asked her for her keys and she could been seen snatching drivers licen back from them. one of the officers then reaches inside the car, grabs her arm. they have a struggle. gao rolls up the window and tries to speed off. that's when the officer, nicholas poletti, opens fire, shooting her three times in the torso. gao survived. now facing multiple charges, officer poletti has been put on routine administrative leave. bart has handed the case over to the alameda county district attorney's office. bart's chief of police also says his agency has hired an independent investigator to do an internal review. new at 11 the first flu death of the season has been reported in san francisco. health officials sa

bart has now canceled service.e's no red line service that takes you from millbrae to richmond. you can make that trip, that journey in both directions, but you have to transfer. most of that involves the yellow line. watch for the bart stations and their overhead signage to talk about the shuttle train, as well to sfo and millbrae. the other system that's impacted tododay is the smart system. over the weekend, they had scheduled closures for system testing for improvements that they're going to unleash. but right now they have some storm damage as well as continued testing that needs to go on. so no smart train or no smart. i guess the t is train through the north bay this day. we also see some water puddling ponding wet roadways, so use that as a word of caution throughout the north bay. kerry has been talking about the rain coming through. we saw it at the golden gate bridge. see it at the richmond bridge as well. so be advised over here. there's a menorah lighting scheduled for 6 to 7, so there will be impacts

again, there's a delay on the bart system. over here. we have a good deal of slowing heading sth on 680 toward the walnut creek interchange, 24 still bears a pretty good speed there. heading to the caldecott, though a slower drive across the san mateo bridge because of that build off of the east bay. no major concerns for 880, just the build there as well as the crash around dixon landing road, looks like it's starting to ease up that slowing much easier now. south bay kicking in with northbound routes. so look at that. 85 shows slowing now to. back to you. thank you very much mike. well happening now calistoga animal shelter is asking for help after crates of small dogs were dumped just outside of town. workers say 27 chihuahuas were crammed into small crates and abandoned a few nights ago. the shelter's already at capacity. to help ease the crunch, it's now asking people to foster or adopt, and it's waiving all the usual adoption fees. however, they say the 27 chihuahuas are not adoptable just yet. and new for you overnight.

two bart police cars collided just outside the west oakland station, then hit a medical supply van on saturday. bart says the units were responding to a life threatening overdose call at the west oakland station. we're told all three bart officers remain in the hospital with serious injuries, but they are expected to survive. the driver of the medical supply van was also hurt. today, san francisco police plan to update the public about a deadly officer involved shooting that happened more than a week ago. police confirmed a hit and run suspect died after they were shot by officers near union square. peter hodge was a security guard at the christian dior store. police say the same suspect drove into a sidewalk, hitting two pedestrians a few blocks away in the tenderloin. when police located him, they say he was armed and officers opened fire. he later died at the hospital. a virtual town hall is scheduled for 3:00 this afternoon. with just a couple of days to go, people across the bay area are getting ready to ring in 2025. but a new ap poll says the majority of americans are planning
